Chapter Two - Dean
When I woke again it was to sharp, near blinding, pain. I felt my body twist as I threw up whatever meagre contents I had in my stomach before crying out, both in pain of body and mind. I ignored the voices, the hands as I cried and mourned.
Then the pain numbed and the lights became too bright, the sounds too crisp... it added to the pain. "Please" I begged quietly. "Please be quiet."
Blessedly the noise stopped till it was a soft hum of whirring machines and two soft voices, one female and the other male as they spoke and moved around me but still I didn't care to listen but I knew I had to, I had a mission to do for both the last of our colony and for Ad—Adam.
"You're going to be okay," a soft voice whispered, sweet and gentle. The scent of apples suddenly became the only thing I could smell, it overpowered the scent of chemicals, sweat, and bile. It seemed to calm me instantly, my mind went back to when I was younger and Adam had taken me to the old apple field off the colony grounds to where the old one stood.
It brought happier memories and happier times before I was trained to become a killing machine by my parents.
"That's it, you're safe here. Can you tell me your name?" The voice whispered again and this time I found myself unfurling, my eyes locking onto the starburst eyes. Green around the iris that stood stark against the steel grey, they were different and beautiful.
"... Adam?" I rasped out, confused for a second, still trying to put together a proper thought pattern. But I also wanted to find Adam; he should be here in this time line if I'm in the right spot in the right time.
"Adam, your name is Adam?" The voice asked again, female.
I frown at her in confusion. "No, my name is Dean Grayson."
"Nice to meet you Dean Grayson, I'm Sarah Hayes. You gave my father quite the scare when you appeared out of nowhere, you're in my home. Before you worry and begin to panic we had to strip you and restrain you in case you were bitten and turned." The woman – Sarah – stated, it was then when she moved back that I caught sight of her.
She was young, close to my age on either side with sun kissed skin, a smattering of freckles across the bridge of her nose, and oak coloured hair that was curled down in front of her shoulders. She was of course in a lab coat and the lights were bright, machines and all sorts of lab works were in the room behind her.
"What year is it?" I rasped out, the ache in my throat now noticeable. "Where am I?"
"It is 2012, you are in Eden." A new voice, one full of concern and suspicion stated. Though I was concerned about the new voice my whole body sagged in relief from the news, I was in the right time and the right place.
A small laugh escaped my lips and I turned my eyes towards the new voice, spotting a male and my hopes were high that it was Adam but no, the man was the same age as Adam was in my timeline. "Adam Lockner?"
"No, I am Adam Hayes, the general of Eden," the voice replied and I felt my body jerk up once more before collapsing as the restraints held me.
I could feel the frown form on my face before I could even process the words and turned to the man once more. Now that I could see him properly, I could see that he indeed was not the Adam that I knew, of course I should have known anyway because Adam would be twenty something in this timeline.
"No, I'm looking for an Adam Lockner and may I please be unbound?" I grunt out, jerking my hands up to show the confounding restraints. I hate being restrained, hate it even more that the anxiety was creeping up on me from being stuck in one position. "I need to be free, they're making me panic."
