merida's face claim above ^
the story will be in third persons point of view unless said otherwise; all lower case is intended.

"where am i?" Merida pondered as she walk through the beacon hills preserve. she looked back to see angus sniffing an odd looking tree stump before sneezing and catching up to her. merida gripped her bow tight as she grabbed a bit of angus's hair and threw herself onto the angus's back.

angus whinnied as he felt merida on his back and took off.  merida furrowed her eyebrows as she say a burnt house in the distance " slow down a little angus, we still do not know where we are!"

angus slowed to a stop as they reached the burnt house. merida grumbled under he breath as she gets down the horse "curse this stupid dress its too long" and continued her journey into the house with angus trailing lightly behind her. the large house stood before merida as she looked at it with wonder, contemplating whether she should go in or not. after a while she lifts her chin up with fierce determination in her bright green eyes.

her hand shook as she went to place a hand on the old doorknob but just as she was about to grab it, it opened abruptly revealing a young man with dark hair and forest  green eyes.
"who are you and what are you doing here? this is private property." he asked merida with a stone cold expression, merida looked up at him in curiosity " i am merida" she stated boldly. angus walked up beside her and sniffed the man. the mans eyes show slight surprise as merida told him her name but still asked  to why she was here, at his house. merida looked around and shrugged lightly "i do not know where i am. i woke in the woods and stumbled upon you're house" the man furrowed his eyebrows as he heard her speak. she looked about 17 yet spoke with so much formality. " your in beacon hills" he said. the girl looked at him hopelessly "beacon hills?" she whispered to herself, "is that anywhere near scotland?" she asked the man.
he looked at the girl in curiosity "no." meridas eyes widen upon the new information, she had no way to get home! where was she supposed to stay until she can figure out how to get home? she thought in panic.

the man could sense the distraught the girl felt as he said this and sighed.
he looked between the girl and the large clydesdale horse beside her, "do you need a place to stay?"

merida nodded hesitantly.
he knew he was going to regret this. "you can stay with me until we figure something out." he stated as he walked into the remains of the house beckoning her to follow.
merida took a hesitant step in and looked around,

"wait! what is you're name?"

she called. the man had a slight smile playing on his lips as he answered

"derek hale"
