❝Daisy?❞
A loud voice interupts my train of thoughts. I groaned. What now? I looked up to see aunt Gloria looking at me with a cross expression. "Yes, aunt?"
"Aren't you suppose to get ready and help us with the outdoor dinner?" Aunt Gloria rests hand on her hip.
I sighed and put away my laptop, trying to stretch my body. Well it's impossible, since this room is as small as a toilet. "Sure, now can you get out?" I raised my eyebrow, annoyed.
Aunt Gloria rolls her eyes, "Well, young lady, since you forget I pay for your groceries and bills, not to mention, rent."
"Well, you mentioned it now, have you not?" I huffed.
She narrowed her ayes at me. "I expect to see you down at five." That's her final words before slammed the door shut, causing the picture on my wall to fall off.
"Why don't you just tell me how much you hate me?" I roll my eyes, couching down to pick up the picture frame. I smiled when I saw the picture of me and Luke, smiling into the camera.
Well, even though you didn't ask for a story of how me and Luke met, I'm still going to tell you anyway. I moved to the Hollow Oaks neighborhood since I was four, well, since both of my parents passed away, my sister, Gemma moved in here with Aunt Gloria and Uncle Beck with me. I played in the back yard everyday without Gemma since we don't really talk to each other since the day our parents died. I was also wondering how am I going to have friends, when I'm hidden from the world, tall fences hiding the world from me, I was homeschooled, since Aunt Gloria doesn't think school is a good idea after a major parent death, well all know that's bullshit, the real reason here is that she's too lazy to move because of all of the fats on her body, and I'm not even sorry for saying that. I went into Walmart for the first time when I was twelve, can you believe that? And it was on my birthday. Luke saw me playing in the backyard, we're basically neighbours, aunt Gloria doesn't want me talking to strangers but every late night, I'd crawl out of the window and sit on the window roof below that kind of lined up to the neighbour's kitchen roof too, and we'd chat all night long about pointless stuff, I still do it now, even though I'm allowed to go to Luke's house, it's a tradition. And yes, I've been climbing on that roof from I was six years old, yeah, it sounds dangerous, but what can I say? I've got climbing skills. Well it's mostly because Luke suggested it because he was three years older than me, like meh, I wouldn't have do that stuff, man, it's dangerous. But that's what makes a child me feel like it's an adventure.
That's basically it.
"DAISY?!" I heard Gemma calling from the staircase.
Realization hit me, I'm not ready yet! I hurriedly yelled back a 'coming!' and ran to my drawer to slip on some appropriate clothes before tripping twice in nothing and made it alive to downstairs with a bruised leg, well, I'm a klutz.
"About time, baby sister!" Gemma ruffle my platinum hair that is identical to hers, and well, my mother's.
I glared at Gemma for calling me the embarrassing nickname I thought she got over years ago. "Shut up."
Gemma rolled her eyes, "Guests are coming, your boyfriend has arrived, why not greet him? Be fast, or Aunt Glors would go ape shit."
My face burned in embarassment, again. "Luke is not my boyfriend, you're just jealous because you don't have friends, and Aunt Glors? I didn't knew you were on nickname terms. Last of all, the rule of the house is no swearing, don't want Aunt 'Glors's' precious daughter, Ruby to get influenced, would you?"
Gemma scrunched up her nose in disgust. "This outdoor backyard dinner is about Ruby, right?"
I gave her an obvious look, "Duh."
