I open my eyes. At first I was confused at where I was, but then everything came back to me. And that's when I realized how much my head hurt. It felt like I ran into a brick wall, multiple times. Or that I slammed into the ground, then was in a car crash.
I glance around the room. There's Dr. Ed and Jenna standing at the end of my bed, having a quiet conversation. I should probably say something to let them know I'm awake. What should I say? Oh, I'll just be straight forward.
"I'm awake." I say quietly. Jenna and Dr. Ed both look at me at the same time, which made me smile. I gave a little wave. "Hi."
Dr. Ed chuckled at that. "How are you feeling Luna?" He asked.
"My head hurts like crazy," I replied. "And I feel slightly sore everywhere. But other than that, I feel okay."
"Once you woke up from your coma, you slept for a day and a half straight. Are you sure you don't feel tried?"
"I'm fine." I say. Though there is this weird tingling in my arms, but I don't mention it. I'm not sure why.
"Okay, then. We would like to run a few tests. We'll call your mother to let her know you're awake, but we would like to start right away with your consent." He said.
"Alright." I said.
He nodded, then said, "Jenna, a nurse, will stay with you while we make the call."
I nodded, then he left. I looked around the room some more, the noticed pictures and cards hung up along the wall.
"Those are from visitors and friends worried about you." Jenna says, slightly startling me. I turn my head to face her. "Hello," she said. "I'm Jenna. I'm the main nurse who has been looking after you."
"I know." I said, and she looked shocked at that. "Your voice sound familiar. Did you talk to me?"
"Yes, I did. So you could hear?" She looked slightly awed and curious.
"Not really, but I know your voice. I feel like I've heard it a lot. I guess I could a little..." I trailed off. Then looked at her, and gave a small smile, to which she smiled back. She pulled up a chair beside my bed, then sat in it.
"You were lucky to survive, and especially with so little damage. Well, for what you went through." She said, trying to start a conversation I guess.
"I know, I'm very lucky," I replied, then I thought of something. "Are the ambulance driver and nurse okay?"
"Oh, yes. They only had some minor injuries." Jenna replied. Then she said, "You had a lot of attention. The girl who survived a bike accident hen a car crash. Also, a lot of people care about you. Many schools in the area had assemblies on bike and pedestrian safety."
"Cool." I said, then Jenna looked at me strangely. "I mean...uh...I'm cool...?"
Her eyes softened. "Yeah," she chuckled. "Mrs. cool." That made me giggle. "Anyways," she said, getting serious, "The test we're going to do are testing your mental health, to make sure you're okay. And..." she trailed off.
"And what?" I asked, a weird feeling of apprehension building.
"And your energy levels. While you were out, your body would have random waves of extra, uh, strange energy."
"Strange?" I question.
"We're not sure what it is, or how your producing it." She said. Then suddenly the door opened, ending our conversation. Dr. Ed came in with a wheel chair.
"Has Jenna told you what tests we're doing?" He asked.
"Uh, yeah." I replied glancing at her, then back at Dr. Ed.
"Alrighty, lets go!" He pushed the wheel chair over right next to my bed. "You can't walk on your leg yet, the mussels are weak, from lack of use. But don't worry, we'll work on that later.Let's get you in this wheel chair." I scooted over to the edge, and tried to stand up, but failed, with Dr. Ed catching me. "Careful," He said. "I warned you." He supported me, then lowered me onto the wheel chair. Then he pushed me out of the room.
As we traveled through the halls, many nurses and doctors we passes took extra notice of me. I just smiled at everyone I made eye contact with. I have been told I am a very cheerful person. Anyways, we turned and entered a darker room. There are a few more doctors in here.
"Alright. We are going to take a MRI and a PET scan. You probably don't know what those are. They scan your brain size, and functionality. When you go through it just relax." Dr. Ed instructed.
"Okay." I replied, then we went through the tests.
Once they were over Dr. Ed told me that I was mentally healthy. Yay. Then he wheeled me into another room. This time the room was empty, and there was one chair in the middle of the room. He helped me into the chair, then crouched down slightly so he was at eye to eye level with me.
"For this test, I'm going to have to put you under, Okay?" He asked, and I nodded. "This test scans your energy levels. This is a new process, as we're still learning the full capabilities of humans. But you'll be okay, I promise." He smiled at me.
I smiled at him. Then he lifted a syringe with some liquid in it. He injected it into my arm, then said, "See you soon."
"You too." I replied, then everything went dark.
