Author's Note: Sorry, I kept on trying to write this chapter over and over but it didn't work out well but here it is anyways :/.
Listen to me, Ellysa. Do you know who I am?
As I open my eyes slowly, the sun shines directly through the window into my eyes. I make a mental note to close the windows next time. It's... only 6 am? On a Saturday? I should let myself sleep just a little bit more, but I know that it's hopeless since I already woke up, and I stretch and get up reluctantly. Today I'll be turning 16, and I'm supposed to be excited because it's my birthday. Instead, I just feel tired - too tired to do anything... Maybe Amber will cheer me up. The second I send her a text, I hear her phone go off outside my door. What? She must be trying to surprise me again, like she does every year. Sighing, I get dressed, and prepare to be bombarded with singing and yelling.
"Happy Birthday!" Amber shrieks excitedly while throwing confetti at me. Behind her, my other friends stand awkwardly.
"Thanks," I reply.
"That's all you have to say? You should be more excited! We're finally the same age again."
"You turn 17 in two weeks," I point out.
"So what? Wait, why weren't you surprised? Did someone tell you? My surprises always work on everyone but you! It was planned so perfectly," Amber whines.
Of course... I shake my head and walk past her to go downstairs.
----------------------------------------------
"Still, how come you weren't surprised at all? You should of had some sort of reaction!" Amber continually asks.
"Your plans never end up working out the way you want them to," I reply, "and besides, you have been whining about the same thing the whole entire way here, and now you're still going at it in this cafe!"
"Fine. I just wanted you to be happier today because it's your birthday. Okay?" Amber asks quietly.
"Okay..." my voice trails off as I notice a teenage boy with his friend walk into the cafe. Strangely, they seem familiar. Once I turn to look at him, he stares straight at the ground immediately and suspiciously shuffles away.
"Wait, aren't you that-" I try to ask him before he shakes his head and scuffles out. Amber stares at me like I'm crazy.
"What are you doing, you probably scared him!" Amber reprimands.
"Sorry, he just reminded me of someone. I must of been wrong," I answer halfheartedly.
I don't believe that I was mistaken. No, there was no way I was wrong. He was definitely the same person. No one else has the same deep yet unclear, sad aura and blue-grey hair, although I didn't get to see his eyes. However, I'm sure he was that guy. The first human I met.
