Preface
THERE WAS ALWAYS SO MUCH MYSTERY THAT SEEMED TO LIVE JUST BEYOND THE GATES OF THE ELEGANT CASTLE, ON TOP OF THE HILL IN EADEM. If you walked the streets of the town below, you would most likely hear the whispering of some sort of rumour about the castle. Many things that people had made up did not last long, but the unforgotten tales - that had surely been passed down from generation to generation - seemed to survive all the confusion of the town’s gossip.
The tales that people told, that people knew, were mostly of the Princes’ choice of wives. They had all attended the prestigious secondary school, Wayward Academy. It was rumoured that the school had held an elite Masquerade Ball, at which the King-to-be selected his bride.
Of course, nobody believed this to be true, for it was merely an old bedtime story, for young children who had a small hope of one day ruling the Kingdom, along side their very own prince. What little girl could ask for more?
What the unsuspecting people of Eadem did not know, was that these so-called rumours were truer than they ever could have imagined. Sworn to secrecy, the students and parents of Wayward Academy could not utter a word about the secret to anybody. That would result in immediate expulsion of the student and - surely - the humility of trying to convince someone of such an absurd thing.
For some of the students of Wayward, it was a dream come true to have a chance to be Queen, but for others, it was a nightmare.
*****Is "truer" a word???
