"Have ya heard? Have ya? Huh huh huh? About the Galaxial Prophecy? Have ya??"
"It's a fairy tale. Get over it."
"Betcha' believe it but cha don't wanna admit it."
"I'll betcha I don't."
"I knoooow you do."
A conversation went babbling on in Knothole. On and on. There stood Charmy Bee and Vector, going on about stories.
"It's all just fun little stories, Charmy." "No! It could exist!" Vector tilted his head. "Get real, Charmy! It's not easy to believe."
The two babbled on and on for what seemed like hours. Nearby, sat Shard, listening a bit. He'd heard the conversation, and was wondering to himself. Something was getting him confused. As Charmy continued, he was only begging Vector to believe him. It was annoying, but then what he said directly caught Shard's attention. "Yeah yeah, and, I heard two of 'em are from Mobius! One's a robot that turned good. Ever heard 'a such a thing?"
Shard.
Shard was surprised. It was HIM that Charmy had mentioned! That, and something he'd mentioned about 'Galaxial Prophecies' or...whatever. Shard used to be Metal Sonic. But after Sonic set his mind free, he sacrificed his life to save him. Later on, a skunk named Geoffrey had discovered Shard's remains and soon gave the power core to Sir Charles. It wasn't long before Shard was back in action and fit as a fiddle.
Mmpph, fairy tales, Shard thought. Shard felt a bit less than some big-shot hero. He was a bit insecure, and had a strong fear of being buried alive, fire, and lava.
Just as Shard got up to walk away, his buddy Larry caught up with him. "Hi Shard," he said, walking by. Shard got up, letting out a low-pitch buzzing noise, sighing. "Let's head back to the tree stump," Shard said, sweeping dust off of his screen.
Back at the workshop, the two were surprised. Sir Charles laughed. "Look at this; its an old teleporter I found. Tryin' to find if it works." Shard and Larry stared in excitement. "Can we try?" Larry asked. Shard's eyes glowed red. "There's lotsa places I heard of that we'be never been to!"
"It's not fixed yet, Shard," Sir Charles said. "I'm not even sure if this is safe or not." Shard and Larry sighed. Shard's eyes dimmed as he sighed again.
"Well, what now?" Shard said. Just then he peered around the room to find a strange raygun sitting around. "Hey Larry," he laughed, picking up a raygun. "NO NO NO, SHARD, DON'T USE TH-" Shard uncaringly fired. A blue beam shot around the room, bouncing off the walls. "HIDE!" Larry yelled, hiding under the table. Sir Charles rolled himself into a ball and rolled under the computer desk.
The beam hit the computer and hit Sir Charles's shoe, igniting it on fire suddenly. Shard and Larry stared in shock. "AHHHH!" Sir Charles kicked the fire out of his shoe, panicked. His eyes shot straight at Shard, looking as if there were flames in them. "I told you not to use that thing!" He yelled. "You're lucky that didn't hit me, or else I'd be on fire!"
Shard scuttled toward the ladder, hands behind his back, and eyes colored blue. "Shard, you goof..." NICOLE sighed. Shard's face turned red. "Y-yes! S-sorry!" Shard said, scrambling outside. Larry started to wonder about something. "What is it with him that he always agrees with NICOLE?"
Later that day, Shard walked slowly into the room. His red eyes were like cat eyes, lighting up in darkness. Everyone was outside, and the room's lights were off. He caught sight of the unfinished teleporter. "Maybe... just once...?" he said, looking at the entrance. "No... I shouldn't..." He just stared at the entrance again. "Just...once."
Shard's eyes dimmed as he kneeled down. He noticed a button to set the location of where to teleport. "Huh... how about... Green Hill Zone?" Shard pressed the button. It made a little whirring noise. Something was wrong though. The location wasn't set right. "Alright, here I go.." Shard stepped towards the entrance. He stepped with one foot forward, bur then something was wrong. The portal started trying to suck Shard into it! "HEY!" Shard screamed. "LET GO!"
Shard flailed his arms as he got picked up into the air. He grabbed the table. "HOW DO I TURN THIS THING OFF?!" That's just when he noticed the off button. "If I let go... I can reach the button quickly before this thing ducks me into the portal!"
He hesitated...
"Here goes nothing..."
Shard slowly removed his hand from the table. Suddenly the portal's force pulled on him and he reached for the button. He pressed it, almost missing. He thought he had done it...
At the last second, the portal closed....WITH HIM IN IT.
Next thing he knew, there was no ground below him, and he was falling from the sky! He screamed for his life and flailed his arms. "AGHHHHHH!" he screamed. He held onto the air for his life, and kept on falling. "This isn't going to END WELLLLL!!!!"
He shot like a yellow shooting star, his life flashing before him.
There was a loud whirring noise, a loud crash, and than everything seemed to fade to black...
