Chapter 1 part 1

Dinah's POV

"Yo Dj!"

I hear my nickname yelled from down the hallway just as the song I was listening to ended. Talk about perfect timing. I pause my music and turn around as they finally reach me.

"Sup guys", I say as I greet my teammates with handshakes and hugs.

"Yo D, you going to the pep rally tonight?"

"The one for the team? Yeah the captain kinda has to go." The rally in question is for the girls basketball team making it all the way to the championship game and winning in overtime. The principal wanted to honor us since we're the first girl's team in the school's history to do that.

"Damn I was kinda hoping you weren't going then we all could skip it."

"Rey why don't you wanna go?"

"I don't want to be reminded that I rode the bench most of the game because of my damn knee."

"Oh come on Reyes, you know damn well no one's cares about your knee. Tell her Z!" I turn my attention to my best friend and co-captain Zendaya Coleman to back me up on my statement, but then I look in her direction when she didn't speak right away, I see her texting. I roll my eyes before taking off my hat and hitting her with it.

"Ow! Hey what was that for!?"

"For not paying attention," I say as I fix the cap back on my head. "Now tell Raven that no one will care about her knee injury at the pep rally later."

"Rae the pep rally is to celebrate us for bringing spirit back to the school, no one is gonna bring up that you got hurt."

Raven looks down at her crutches before I make her look up at me. "Rae look you kinda have to go, your girl is gonna be there, and coach said it was mandatory yesterday."

"Dammit Kane! Fine I'll see you there. I gotta go to the lab, see you at lunch." She hugs Zendaya and I before slowly walking away. Zendaya looks like she wants to say something, but waits until Raven is out of earshot to speak.

"Why did you just lie to her like that?"

"What do you mean?" I say knowing exactly what she is referring too.

"Kane didn't say it was mandatory to go the the pep rally."

"Oh I know but one little text to Sinclair and Jackson and he said whatever I told Raven he said." I smirk devilishly while pulling out my phone.

"Dinah what are you gonna do?" Zendaya says looking nervously between my phone and the smirk on my face.

"Oh don't be so nervous I'm just gonna send a little text to Coach Sinclair to tell Raven if he sees her that Principal Kane said the pep rally is mandatory. That's all." I send the text when I finish talking and put my phone away in the same breath. Turning back around to my locker I grab my books and shut it tight.

"Ready for class Z?" She shakes her head as soon as I turned to her.

"Come on goof, I wanna see my girlfriend."

Normani's POV

"So anyway you told Z you weren't ready to have sex and then what happened?" "She was quiet for a moment and then said that she wasn't ready either. She kissed me on the cheek and after that we watched the rest if the movie until she had to go home."

I slam my locker closed, stopping the conversation my two best friends are having around me.

"Are you two done?"
