Chapter 4

Dinah's POV

My alarm goes off earlier than I want it too because my dream was just getting good. I grab my phone to turn the damn alarm off and I see like fifteen notifications and surprisingly not from the basketball team group chat. I leave my phone for now to hop in the shower, but not before sending Normani a good morning text.

Dinah: good morning beautiful see you in first period

After I get out the shower and I'm dressed, I grab my things and head downstairs. I head straight to the fridge for food ignoring all my annoying little siblings.

"Morning everyone!"

"Morning Dinah there's food on the table for you, come eat with the family."

I roll my eyes and do as my mother says and sit next to Seth and eat.

"Is dad already gone?"

"Yes he is and I won't be able to drive you to school today either."

"This is why I should just get my license already. we wouldn't have to worry about this almost every morning."

"Okay so getting your license wouldn't solve the problem, you just want it so your uncle will give you his old car."

"Can you blame me? Uncle Dwayne's old car is awesome and he said he would fix it up for me. Plus if I got my license I could help out around the house."

"I know Dinah but your father and I just don't have the time to teach you right now, maybe in the summer okay? "

I deflate knowing that the timing just isn't right for me to get my license and that's that. I pull my phone out and there's a text from Zendaya telling me that her and Lani are on their way if I need a ride, so I text her back real quick before finishing my food and heading for the door.

"Z and Lani are outside so I gotta go love you. Have fun with the brats!"

I head out the house, still chewing the toast mom made, just as they pull up. I get in the backseat and put on my seat belt and reach for my ear buds but Zendaya stops me.

"So you can ignore all my texts from last night, but as soon as you need a ride you respond back immediately?"

"Hey give me a break I was busy with family stuff all day."

"Bullshit Tori told me you were with Normani all day Sunday. Since when do you go to church?"

"I've always gone to church with my family."

"Girl with all the shit you get into I'm surprised you didn't burst into flames when you stepped on those holy grounds."

"Man shut up. I was busy yesterday after I got home doing homework I turned my phone off when it died."

"When did it die?"

"Around like 5 or so. All your texts are timed like after seven or something. I was gonna respond when I was going to bed, but I said fuck it and went to sleep."

"So anyway what happened yesterday? "

I tell them what happened between Normani and I yesterday and by the time we get to the school I'm done.

"Wait so you're going to try dating again?"

"Yeah Normani is worth it."

"Well I can't wait personally because now we can all hang out without it being awkward."

"Z you're such a fucking lame."

"Man whatever you know your girl would be down for it. I'm just warning you now."
