1: KoroSensei's Matchmaking

{Nagisa POV}
Wow. Just... Wow. KoroSensei is insane. It's official. Or has it always been official?

Okay, allow me to explain. We're on this class trip to a tropical island as a reward for our awesome grades. We had this great assassination plan with water-crafts, sniper decoys, and enough water to make KoroSensei the biggest sponge ever. But he had this "ultimate defense form" that nothing could penetrate. Like, seriously? Sometimes I feel like one of those anime protagonists... There can't be a way to defeat the final boss until the very end... Or something like that.

Anyway, after THAT blew up in our faces, we had to battle for our lives against these ultra-powerful assassins... Seriously, talk about a crappy way to spend your R&R trip! I almost died multiple times!

So we got done with this whole crazy mess, and you know what KoroSensei immediately wants to do? Force us into summer romances disguised as braveness tests! Like, seriously? *sigh* He's the most out-of-whack teacher I've ever met, that's for sure. Anyway, for this "test", we need to pair up in groups of two: a boy and a girl... I'm sure that KoroSensei is trying to make couples out of us, but I doubt that it'll work...

{Kayano POV}
Wha- what? Groups of two? A b-boy and a girl? That KoroSensei, always trying to pair us... I wonder who I'll be paired with...

"Hey, Kayano!" I nearly jump out of my skin as Nagisa's voice rings out from behind me. "Wanna partner up?"

He's smiling. I gulp. Gosh dang it, Kayano, I scold myself. He doesn't want to pair with you because he likes you... He's one of your best friends, dummy! "Sure!" I chirp, putting my acting skills to use and covering up my feelings.

"Great!" Nagisa laughs, sneaking a look at KoroSensei. "Seriously, though, I wonder what kind of tricks that guy's gonna play on us..."

"Yeah," I reply absentmindedly, staring at Nagisa's eyes. They're so blue. And they reflect the sunset. They're so deep, they could see through your soul... Shut up, me. I mentally slap myself.

"Nurufufufu!" KoroSensei laughs. "Into the caves, everyone! And may your love– I mean, er, bravery– be put to the test!"

{Time Jump- In The Caves}

{Nagisa POV}
"Wow. This is really dumb."

Kayano and I have been walking around the caves for almost ten minutes, and KoroSensei hasn't tried to scare us even once yet. I mean, what's the point? Is he just trying to freak us out with darkness?

"Eep!" Kayano gasps for no apparent reason and clutches onto my arm. I raise my eyebrows at her, and she squeals, "What? Just trying to get into the spirit! Even if he's not going to scare us, I still want to feel scared!"

"Why?" I ask, laughing.

"Oh, no reason." It's too dark to tell for certain, but I'm fairly sure that Kayano's blushing. What's that all about?

{Kayano POV}
Well. This is awkward. I mean, Nagisa's denser than dense, so he probably doesn't feel as awkward, but still... "Well, let's keep moving... Maybe he'll jump scare us or something, huh?" I laugh, trying to brighten the mood.

"Uh, I'm not really much for jump scares..." To my surprise, Nagisa looks a little frightened. His eyes are wide. Even in this darkness, his blue eyes shine. Wow, that's really distracting... I shake my head quickly.

"Well, if KoroSensei does manage to scare us, we have each other to cling onto, right?" I laugh, trying to keep my tone light. Keep it together, keep it together, this is cool, don't make this awkward...

"Yeah," Nagisa agrees, laughing and pulling his arm away from me at last. "That's what best friends are for, right?" He grins, gesturing to the path ahead, as I sigh silently.

Best friends, huh?

I hope you guys liked the first chapter!!! This is actually my first time ever writing a fanfic, so... Please don't judge the tone of it. I know that maybe my Nagisa is a little too... I don't know... Bold? But I think I pretty much nailed inner Kayano. When she drops her act, that's what she sounds like...
