"So you're the famous Smile Dog. I'm afraid that you won't find me afraid..." I muttered under my breath. His eyes widened and he walked closer to me.
"Mind if I pet you?" I asked smiling. He smiled even wider than before and put his soft face against my outstrached hand.
"Hey, is it nice to be a dog that walks around without anyone caring?"
He barked softly as a comfirmation of "yes" before cocking his head to the side as if to ask,"why?"
"I'm an Okami that can look human-like or a white wolf. I got animal control on my ass once for walking around."
He opened his mouth as if to laugh and started to walk away. I sat there watching him. Not 5 meters away, he turned back around and barked.
"Where?" I asked.
He whined and wagged his tail, practically yelling,"mansion, mansion!"
"Geez, I gotta get some stuff first..." I said, walking back into my run-down of a house. I took a floral patterned back pack and put some sketching stuff in it. Plus some clothes but stopped mid-packing.
"Change of plans," I said to Smile Dog, who sat there patiently. He, again, cocked his head to the side.
"I'm gonna ask my neighbors if they could watch my stuff."
He jumped around towards the front gate. It was dark out and not many people were driving. I got up to their doorway but they didn't answer, so I left a note in their mailbox. Hopefully they'd get it. Smile Dog and I bounded off, but I got tired at the twenty-first block. Smile Dog yipped at me worriedly.
"Is there... anyone... around?" I panted. He circled around for a second and shook his head. Heaving, I controlled my breathing  and in a raspy voice, I said," Od Grohiik," which I instantly shimmered with a dim white light, then turning into a white wolf. My lungs stopped burning and we both bolted towards the forest, which was a quarter of a mile away. We ran but a large truck stopped us.
"Well looky here, we got a double!" The dog catcher barked, jumping out of his vehicle and starting to advance on us.  We both ran towards the forest, I rounded a corner a block away from the catcher and turned back around into a human.
"Shizuka!" I said, my ears and tail had to be silent for this to work. Smile Dog stood next to me and the man rounded the corner and dove at my legs. I shrieked like an average girl mostly because he looked up my skirt. You could tell, he had hearts in his eyes and blood gushed out of his nose.
"Pervert! Help!" I yelled, loud enough for one of the residents to look outside his door.
"Help someone!" I shrieked again, the man was climbing up my leg and rubbed his face against my thigh.
I'm going to torture this guy!!! My mind screamed. The man who looked out of his door, seeing the scene of this wierdo, me who looked like an innocent teenager, and Smile Dog who was -thankfully- growling at the man, grabbed out a .42 caliber pistol and jumped next to me, kicking off the crazed pervert from my leg. I stepped behind him and kneeled by Smile Dog's face.
"Just play along throughout this please, it won't last long." I whispered in his ear. He shook his head in a way of saying,"yes". The pervert darted away without apologizing.
"Are you okay, miss?" He asked, me turning around. He didn't look a day over thirty.
"I-I think so... but my dog... are you okay buddy?" I asked.
He whined and licked my face, just like a dog. He was also doing a good job on hiding his human-like teeth.
"Here, come on inside, take your dog in too, we don't want that perv to show up again do we? Jessy'll have a look at ya."
We entered his house cautiously, but thankfully.

We got inside and a woman with dirty blond hair came up to me.
"Honey you okay? You sounded like you were in some deep trouble out there..."
"Y-Yes thanks. I don't know what I would've done if the foul man had taken Smiley from me, or gotten farther up my skirt than where he was... By the way, thank you so much for helping me Mister...?"
"Darren, but please, just call me Rob. That there's Jessy, my wife, and the little one in the livingroom is Charlotte. She's very shy, so she'll be behind that couch for a bit."
"Anyway hun, you must be starved, here, sit down and eat, you look like you've walked through Hell."

An hour later, I was well fed with extremely good food, and Smile stared at the food. He wouldn't eat dog kibble, he'd eat human food with those teeth.
"You two seem like a nice couple and some trustworthy people but... you think you could... or if I could..." I looked at Smile Dog who was staring at the couple desperately.
"Yes hun? You can ask whatever you like," Jessy beamed at me, making me feel more confident.
"I-I haven't been honest with you guys and I'm sorry. But... may I- may we show you?" I asked frightfully.
"Sure," Rob said, little Charlotte's head bobbing up and down.
"Smile, you up to this?" I looked at him. He stood up, and I stood up, him showing his secret first.
"Oh my," Jessy said looking at his teeth.
"My turn..." I muttered. I  twitched my ears and taill and they came into view, but ears flat against my head and my tail tucked between my legs. After a few ominous moments, the couple and their daughter beamed at us.
"You could've told us sooner," the parents grinned.
"By the way, Smile's hungry and as you can probably tell, he can't kibble."
"Oh yes, one moment dear," Jessy bounced out of her chair and went to get the still warm leftovers. An hour or so later, we were watching movies of all sorts until we heard a knock on the door, then it opening and closing with a teen-aged boy's voice," I'm home!"
"Hey honey, we have company!"
I quickly hid my ears and tail and Smile hid his teeth. Smile looked at me, he was on my lap as I sat on a sofa chair, his eyes showing discomfort.
"Is it Aunt Betty?"
"No, it's a new friend, she's... special. You're father saved her from a creep earlier."
"Wh-oh. H-Hi..." the boy blushed after walking in the the room.
"Hi. I'd properly introduce myself but Smile, has pinned me down," Smile looked up at him.
"That's, what'd you say your name is again hun?"
"Broken Wolf. But Broken is fine."
"Ah yes, Broken. That's her friend Smile."
"I'm Daniel. Um, how're you special? Not meaning to be rude or any thing," he continued to blush. I worriedly looked at Rob and Jessy. Rob stood up.
"They, they aren't human..."
"Of course the dog isn't, but she looks it," Daniel said, looking me in the eye. I patted Smile's back and he leapt off, bearing his toothy grin. I stood up next and showed my ears and my tail. My mixmatched eyes flared.
Daniel gawked for a second. He didn't say anything afterward, just walked off to his room.
"Do you have a place to stay?" Jessy finally broke the silence.
I shook my head,"no."
"Come on, you two must be tired," with that, the mother scooped up my hand and led us to a guest room.
"Thank you for everything," were my last words to her for the day.

In the morning, the Darrens gave Smile and I a ride in their spacious truck, Smile and I were as our canine selves, sticking our noses out of the windows and letting our tongues fly free. It had been 5 years since I got to do this. When we reached the forest, I changed back into a human-ish thing for a minute. I hugged the parents and Charlotte, and finally smiled Daniel, whose face lit up like a tomato.
"Visit us again, you know our address and if you ever need to contact us, here," Rob gave me a thin piece of paper with a phone number on it. Smile and I thanked them one last time before departing on four paws. They smiled back on us as we ran.
