I woke up in hospital, a nurse sitting right by me, excited by my awakening. She ran out of the room only to bring a doctor in, who gave me a pleasant smile and walked over to me. I could feel a cheerful aura and strait away smiled to myself. He was a young man, a bead placed strategically on his face, his nose was strong, strait and the perfect size. His lips were the shape to give him a perfect smile, as if he was born to do it. His eyes were a sea blue colour, strait away making me wish I was by the ocean instead of in a lousy- that reminded me, where was I?
"Hello Katie. You've been out for quite a while, before you try to ask, you've been out for about 6 days. Don't panic, nothings happened in that time, but we were worried if you'd ever wake up."
What did he mean, before I try to ask? Try? why try? I ignored most of what he said only picking out key words. Coma, death, funeral, friends, crying, man, graveyard, ambulance. All of which seemed to have no kick into my memory. I sat in silence waiting for this chatty man to shut up so I can get a word in. When he finally stopped talking it was my turn, at least that's what I thought. I opened my mouth, but no words came out, not even a sound, all I felt was a slight burning sensation as the air made its way down my throat, like I had just drunk some vodka.
The doctor smiled and explained to me that I would need to take medication before I could speak, which basically meant- wait I'm mute!
