My legs hung over the rock face, into the warm cobalt water. In the reflection, the cottage lounged in the shadows. Lucca emerged from it, hanging up his soaking sweater. Last night we were caught in the rainfall. The thunderstorm so to speak. It all went down. The electricity, the water, the houses, the cars, everything.

"Cosmia!! Where are you?!" A familiar voice booms as the darkness creeps in. I can feel the hot, humid air feather my skin and moonlight graze my cheek. My eyelids slide open and I am flashed with blood and corpses. I look around to see that I am surrounded in a thick haze of smoke and gas. The smell scars my nose and leaves it with an empty picking. The taste of warm blood lingers in my mouth and stains it. I get up, the world still a massive fog, and attempt to figure where I am. My eyes search in the darkness, hoping to find light. My arm aches and I've inhaled much smoke. Other than that, I am barely touched. What happened? My mind is frozen due to the overdose of black smoke. Lucca. Where is he?  Before I can start walking, I trip on another decayed body and hit the floor hard. Then, lights out.

"Cosmia? Cosmia, are you okay?" I peel my eyes open to see that Lucca is hovering atop of me. My mouth shapes into a smile and I wrap my arms around his neck.

"I'm so sorry. I.. I," I start to plead before he kisses my forehead. "It's fine. You didn't do anything wrong. It's fine now. I'm here." He says genuinely and gives me the most forgiving yet pitiful glare.

"Where are we? What happened?" I ask, now knowing I'm safe.

"Cosmia, do you not remember?," He curiously looks at me. "All I remember is the argument." I reply, almost spitting the words.

"Cosmia, you ended the argument by slamming the door and going to the mall. That's when it all happened." He said reluctantly. "It started to rain ever so slightly. You went to the mall to blow off some steam. It started raining harder and harder. It pounded Cosmia!" He exclaimed; I had never seen him so worked up before.

"Ya, so..." I speak so softly I surprise myself. "Cosmia, it rained so hard, the city flooded. The houses and cars came down. So did the mall. It's all rubble. Cosmia, it's all flooded. Our home is now a pile of floating wooden boards." He speaks so sentimentally, the words hang in the air.

"Ok, but.." I start before he cuts me off.  "Cosmia, you almost died."

So here I sit. My boyfriend Lucca by my side; Absorbing the humid air, the sun kissing our skin, our feet dipping into the warm lake. We survived a rain fall. Yet there are still more to come.
