Part 4: Having the Baby
You woke up suddenly; the room in a haze. The image quickly sharpened and for a split second you didn't know where you were or what had woken you. You realized in a matter of moments, however, that nothing was gravely wrong. You were in bed just as you had been these past few weeks.
You figured all that had woken you was a kick from the baby. You sighed. Dean was still on a hunt in South Dakota with Sam and Bobby. You missed them more than you could say. You blamed your newfound hormones partially for being so overemotional. The Angel Squad, which consisted of Cas, Gabe, and Balth, did their very best to take care of you, even if it meant rolling with with the punches (and dodging ones aimed at their faces).
In all honesty they were your self-proclaimed caretakers. You untangled yourself from the sheets and swung your legs over the side of the bed. As soon as your swollen feet made contact with the glossy wooden floors, the angels appeared at your side inquiring what was wrong and what you needed.
"Guys, guys!" you said, hushing them prudently, "Look, I'm fine, I just want to make my own breakfast. I need out of this bedroom before I go insane!!"
"We only want the best for you sweet cheeks. You know that." Gabriel stated cautiously. Castiel and Balth nodded in silent agreement. They never knew when you were going to go off anymore. You put your index finger and thumb on both sides of the bridge of you nose and then sighed. "I know you guys want me to be safe, but seriously, I'm going to have a baby, I'm not dying."
Gabriel let out a nervous laugh. "We know, love.." Balth said, "We just care about you.... You know what? Today's gonna be a free day for you! Are you okay with just Cas staying? I mean, as much as I love catering to your every need, I would like some freedom as well."
You laughed plainly at Balthazar's flamboyant attitude. When you had finally calmed down you said, "I'm fine with Cas as long as he isn't constantly perched on my shoulder."
Cas looked confused, "I believe it is highly impractical to assume I could fit on such a small surface." You shook your head in wonder then whispered to Balth and Gabriel (looking slightly converned) before they disappeared, "I'm sure he'll be fine." Gabe and Balth winked and then in a split second, they were gone.
_-Time skip brought to you by Dean's undying love for pie.... And you of course!-_
You plopped into your seat and began pigging out over your chocolate covered eggs smothered in pasta sauce while Cas stared at you strangely. "What?" you asked blatantly, with eggs hanging out of your mouth. Cas mumbled a fleeting, "Nothing..." Before going back to staring at the center of the coffee table.
You rolled your eyes at your ridiculous friend and heaved yourself to your feet. They hurt just standing on them. You reached down what felt like a mile and got your plate and fork to wash. Your stomach had reached roughly the size of a watermelon, but it felt a hell of a lot heavier. Halfway to the sink a pain hit you so hard you doubled over, dropping your plate, which shattered into several large pieces. You cried out in pain and attempted to take deep breaths. The pain wouldn't stop. It took you a while to realize Cas was right next to you unsure of what to do.
His expression was calm, but his eyes were panicked. That really didn't help. "Cas!" you managed to half yell through the pain, "Get the.. Bag.. By the.. Door.." You forced out through clenched teeth. In a moment he had poofed away and poofed back with the bag in hand. "Just get me to the hospital!!"
In a matter of moments you were in a waiting room. Cas and your screams mixed and suddenly you were being wheeled down a strange hall. You were put into a gown and, before you knew it, were pushed onto a hospital bed. Cas was outside negotiating with the nurses, and explaining the situation.
"DEAN!!!" the scream could be heard echoing through the halls. Cas, Gabe, and Balth were suddenly in the room you were in. The nurses and doctors had no time to register their shock. Gabe rushed over to you and grabbed your hand. "Shhh, it'll be fine.." he whispered, "Dean's coming... He'll be here.." These words calmed you down enough to get through your first push. A few moments later Balth and Cas were coming and going, bringing more people each time.
First Bobby and Dean, then Ellen and Joe, then Ash and Kevin, and finally Charlie. All of hem seemed slightly confused at first then they realized what was going on. The nurse began to shoo them out, but you fought with her to make them stay through large, shaky breaths. As soon as Dean appeared he rushed over to you and took Gabriel's place. He kissed you quickly on your sweaty forehead and pushed your soaked [H/C] hair out of your face.
"Hey.. I'm here... You need to keep pushing.. Come on [Y/N], you can't give up now! You are so strong. You can do this!" You were heaving in and out and your tears mingled with sweat but you managed a nod before your face was contorted in unimaginable pain as another contraction ripped through you. "Keep going!" Dean mumbled to you, keeping your head clear and your goal in mind.
_-Time skip brought to you by the BABY!!!-_
Eight hours later you sat exhausted. You felt as though a weight had been lifted off your chest. Hahahaha I'm so funny...... Laugh. You exhaled deeply. Dean was still standing there, in the same spot he was in eight hours ago. He never left your side and you were both tired to say the least. Everyone else was conversing among themselves, but it was all background noise to you and Dean; like a record stuck on a loop.
He was still encouraging you; telling you what a great job you did. He was reassuring you how amazing of a mother you'd be. He helped you like no one else. Dean and you were excited to learn the gender. You were finally finished. Suddenly a nurse walked into the room staring at a clipboard. Everyone fell silent. You looked up at Dean and you and smiled. "A healthy baby girl!" she exclaimed. As soon as she exited to get her, the room exploded in uproarious applause and cheering.
There were many exclamations of congratulations. Dean leaned down and wrapped you in a bone crushing hug. Tears streamed down both your faces. The nurse reappeared with a bundle of cloth and the room became deathly still and silent again. The nurse walked right up to you, her shoes' clicks echoing around the room. She handed you the baby and exited the room for the final time.
You looked down at the small sleeping face of a new Winchester. She was absolutely beautiful and you knew that all of it was worth it. "Hope.." you breathed out. Dean's face cracked a wide smile. "Hope."
