I awoke to the sounds of screams. I don't know if it was a dream or a sign. I got ready for school, ready to begin the day.
At school, I heard the screams again. Only this time, it was for real. Everyone was running outside. My friend Julia and I did the same, but we stayed quite.
As we approached the door, I realized that something was wrong. The Sky was gray, and it was raining. I also saw men in black suits with guns. I pulled Julia as fast as I could, towards our neighborhood. We live two blocks from our school.
While we ran, I explained my dreams. It was the apocalypse!! We had to get everything we could, and fast!!!! Food, water, clothes, my maps, flashlights, and other things. We agreed to get crossover bags and backpacks for everything we needed. We would meet in 10 minutes time, in the alleyway.
I gathered everything quickly, making sure I had everything.I then left a note for my mom and dad. I explained everything in it, and said to never forget me.
As the time went on, I had an crossover bag, and an old backpack full of essentials.
I met Julia in the alleyway. Destruction had already struck the city. I hugged Julia.
"Come on. We have to be sly and sneaky. No matter what, stay together. Here.", I tossed her a walkie talkie and a pack of batteries.
"In case we get separated?", she asked. I nodded in response.
We walked through the destroyed streets of Philly. Some people were running, others simply sitting on the ground, crying. I thought about courage for a moment, but then I realized it wasn't worth it to think about something I didn't have. For now, I just wanted to get Julia & I to safety.
"I am scared, Jen. I mean, you are hear to help me, but I cannot help you back. I am sorry." Typical Julia, timid and afraid. But, after my dreams, I was ready.
"It's okay", I said. Then, we saw black trucks with the letters on them. I motioned Julia to hide behind an old car. We watched.
The men spoke quickly, but I managed to here plans to have district bases in our city. They had to report to the Pennsylvania control, who would report progress to the main facility, in Washington D.C!! They must've taken over the white house!!
As the men looked over the area, they decided to call it Pennsylvania District 84Ad. I was afraid. How many districts were there? How many were there gonna be?
"This is bad, Julia. There is no safe place in the the world!!", I yelled. The men turned around, and Julia covered my mouth.
"We need more concentration camps in this city!! To many people being free!!! Search the area!!", a big man yelled at the other men. As they looked around, Julia pulled ou her walkie talkie, so I pulled out mine.
"Meet me at the pizza shop, okay?", she winked and ran. She has long legs and can really run!!!
I ran in the other direction. I knew her plan: she'd go straight to the pizza shop, and I would circle the block. We would meet at the door, and break inside.
I ran around, making sure not to make to much noise. I arrived and saw Julia sitting there, not even out of breath. We entered through the side door.
And that's where we are now, freshening up and planning in the pizza shop. Nobody is gonna come in, because it's abandoned.
Julia and I are still making plans of our route for the next few days. I am nervous, I admit. But after today, I realized we would be okay. Now, I am gonna hit the sink and wash up while Julia stocks up some food.
Good night for now.
