Chapter 1

Nick stood on the street looking up at Victoria Court. He never thought he would be back here so soon. They had decided on keeping one of their flats so that they had a base when they came back to Weatherfield when visiting family and friends. And maybe in a few years they would eventually come back with their own little family. That was the plan. But the reality was It had ended before it even begun. His world had came crashing down in the space of a few hours. After he stormed out of the wedding he just kept running, running until his legs couldn't take anymore. That was three days ago. He had checked into a little B&B and shut himself away. Away from Carla, away from his family, away from the world.

He shut the flat door and took in the scene in front of him. Wedding presents all over the table. Make up and hair products sitting on the worktop along with wine glasses and wine bottles. This is where the girls had been getting ready for the big day. He wondered if Carla had felt the same as he did. Excited but sick with nerves. Nervous that things would go wrong, like guests being sat at the wrong tables, or his mind going blank and forgetting his speech. Nervous that Gail was going to mention how Carla wasn't good for him and how nobody would be good enough for her precious boy. He never imagined it would end up the way it did. Hearing she had slept with his chef and helping him get Nick's business. At night when he closed his eyes that was all he could picture. Robert who was supposed to be his mate and his Fiance, he couldn't help but think they had been laughing behind his back all this time

He sat down on the sofa. And For the first time in days he switched on his phone. He had lots of missed calls and messages. One by one he listened to the voicemails that had been left. His mum panicking as to where he was and willing him to call her just to make sure he was ok. David, Bethany, Michelle, Johnny, Leanne, Audrey, Kylie all leaving similar messages. As he sighed and placed the phone on the coffee table tears started to fall down his face. Carla hadn't even bothered to try and contact him, not even a message to say sorry, nothing.
