Quinn swung her axe at an unassuming tree again. There was already eleven gashes in the poor bystander. She made sure not to cut the tree clean off the stump, since the greenery was damaged enough. The military base didn't need anymore plant casualties.
"You've been hacking away at the damn tree for what seems like an hour!" Says Quinn's owl friend dubbed Emil.
"Well, I need to unleash my anger out on something." Quinn grumbled. Emil sighed from his perch on top of a high branch. Quinn lashed out on the tree again, the force shook the tree and Emil nearly lost his balance. He fluttered his metallic wings and landed on top of Quinn's red hair.
"You hurt the poor tree enough!" Emil said as he looked down into Quinn's one eye.
"Hey kid!" Quinn looked behind her to see general Cecil waving at her.
"Looks like your done, come over we need to talk." Cecil called out.
Quinn walked across the rough terrain and ducked into the general's tent. Near the front, a sleeping bag lies and a small desk with chairs, made with the same material. Wood.
"Come and sit, Quinn." The general says.
General Cecil sits behind the desk while Quinn sits near the opening of the tent. Cecil folds her arms.
"I have come to understand that you're not happy with this 'transfer' business, but you need to understand, we need someone like you."
"What can I possibly add to this army." Quinn asked with doubt flashing her eyes. She eyes a crossbow onto of a mass of papers.
"Well first, you can think incredibly fast, your brain functions at a higher level then others. You can come up with a solution at a fast rate. Your talent with your axe is indescribable, you're the best out of all the soldiers of this army. Lastly you have some.......interesting abilities." Cecil stated as she looked at Quinn's head to see Emil sitting.
Cecil leaned back and plucked a strawberry from a small bowl in her mouth. Quinn knew what she was talking about, Killian and Emil. Back home she had taught Emil how to fight, she gave him his very own armor with blade like feathers to use in combat. Killian she had met while on her travels to the military base. Killian was a bright white wolf with the most bluest eyes you have ever seen. He had a strange ability to blend in with his surroundings. And could be pretty annoying at some times.
"You're the only one who can communicate with them, correct?" Cecil said and arched an eyebrow.
However Quinn had been lost in space and quickly shook her head.
"Oh! Yes mam!" Quinn stated quickly. Cecil chuckled.
"Well, in that-". Cecil's sentence was cut short by an arrow flying towards her. Her reflexes acted on their own and caught the arrow just before it hit her cheek.
"Never mind that kid! Go! Warn the rest!" Grabbing the already shot arrow, Cecil jammed it in her crossbow.
Quinn raced out of the tent to see hundreds of the opposing army barreling towards the base. She was overwhelmed, suddenly unsure what to do. Quinn was shoved aside by general Cecil, who was currently firing arrows at oncoming soldiers.
"Go quickly Emil and go get Killian, I have to warn the hospital unit!" Quinn told Emil. He nodded and flew off her head in the south direction.
Quinn raced past everyone screaming. "Go! Go! We've been ambushed! Go!"
Soldiers ran out of their tents, all having an array of different weapons. Everything from guns to katannas.
Quinn sadly stuck out like a sore thumb, screeching while running the opposite direction.
Quinn hoped and prayed that she wouldn't be shot at while running to the hospital unit.

                                                ------------------------------------------

Quinn was no longer surrounded by soldiers as she approached the hospital unit. She opened the tent but stopped when she felt a terrible pain in her leg. She fell and rolled her back to see an arrow embedded in her calf. She tried and tried to pull the arrow but it didn't move its place. She struggled to stand but was finally on her feet. She warned the unit and limped back to her tent to see her battle axe leaning on a pole of the tent. She lifted the axe, emotions filled with determination, ready to face the dangerous battle ahead.
Come and get some she thought.

                   -------------------------------------------------

Emil flew high and low, watching Killian disappear then reappear. Emil swooped down and unleashed the feather like blades on his armor, the blades landing in a soldier's back. He was flying back up when he heard a clear and sharp whistle.
"Killian! Quinn needs us!" He shouted over the commotion. Killian appeared, nodding, before quickly disappearing.
Emil turned around, using his metal coated wings steer back to Quinn's whistle.

                                      --------------------------------------------

Quinn breath was ragged as she took a defensive stance at the six soldiers. Three archers, two swordsmen and one carrying a mace.
"We've been told to get general Cecil's secret weapon." The solider armed with the mace sneers.
"Seize your attack, I dare you." She says as she looks to the sky.
Hurry Emil, Killian, I'm not going to last long.
"It's not going to be that easy." One of the swordsmen states.
"Seize your attack!" Quinn says firmly before throwing herself on the ground. A metal coated owl then flies through the air, swooping low. Then sharp blades fly, landing in the back of the neck of a swordsmen. The swordsmen falls to the ground, warm red liquid gushing from his neck. Dead.
Killian still remained undetected, slinking his way around the now six soldiers before biting an archers leg. Quinn used this distraction to her advantage and swung her axe in the archer's side. Dead.
Killian then pounced on the solider with mace next. Killian still using his abilities bites his next and snapping it to the right. Dead.
Quinn didn't notice the second swordsmen but she did notice him when swung his sword and cut a large gash on her back. Quinn screamed in pain, she shoved her axe at the swordsmen and it landed in his abdomen. She fell to the ground in a tremendous amount of pain. Unable to get up. Emil quickly disabled the remaining archers and sliced their backs, not wanting anymore death on his claws. With little a strength she had, Quinn picked herself up, using her bloody axe as a support. She looked over at the remaining living soldiers.
"Killian. Drag these men to the general's tent. I think I have found her some prisoners." Killian nodded and one by one dragged them to the general's tent.
"Are you alright Quinn? You don't look strong enough to walk." Emil stated as he perched on her soldier.
"I'll be alright. Don't worry Emil. I'll just walk over to the hospital wing." Quinn said tiredly.
She limped slowly, but after a few steps her vision began to darken. And the sound of her name fading out of her hearing.
