Prince Harvey's POV
These dark hallways are not helping. Why did I even agreed to this deal and look at now, I put the both of us in danger. In danger I meant facing our furious Father. He is a nice guy actually but when he's mad forget that I ever said that. I can imagine his face when he finds out.
The high purple walls of the long hallway still intimidates me. I walk down the hallway with my head down, scratching the back of my head. I'm wearing my sister's clothes, the one I took off in front of Mrs. Streight. Emlyn and Mr. Boldwise comes into view when we meet the last corner before our father's room.
"What?" We say in unison. We look at each other not expecting to meet in the deaths of hallway. We burst into fits of laughter until someone coughs. Mrs. Streight raises her eyebrows at us. I elbow my sister.
"What happened?" I ask her.
"On my second shot I almost hit someone. The servant fainted when the arrow landed just in front of him. I went to him and out of nervousness I spoke."She crinkles her nose. "How about you?"
"Well." I look through my shoulders and hold my sister's wrist. We walk faster and good thing Mrs. Streight and Mr. Boldwise give us space. "Mrs. Streight didn't like what I was wearing so she asked me to change in front of her since we're both 'girls'." I roll my eyes.
"You didn't!" She whisper shouts, giggling.
"I did!" I frown at her. She laughs tilting her head back. I elbow her.
"How come you have etiquette?" She says when she recovers.
"She has witch seminar-thing tomorrow. She moved your class today." I sigh embarrassed of what happened. After a while we're in front of my father's office. We both swallow hard. Two Knights are in front of his office.
"Prince Harvey and Princess Emlyn are here to see their father." Mr. Streight says. The knights give space for us to enter the room.
"Open it." I whisper to my sister.
"No, you do it." She whispers back.
"No, you." I frown at her. A hand twist the knob and pushing it open. We look at the source to see Mr. Boldwise keeping a tight smile.
We both enter leaving our teachers outside the room. The room has high ceiling and large curtains covering the large windows. His table is made out of wood and his chair is made out of gold and rare kind of leather. He rest his hands on top of the wooden table while his back is laid back on his king chair.
"I've heard." He says sending chills to the both of us. We both have our heads down. "Sit." We sit in front of his large table.
"Whose idea was this?" Father says in his low voice.
"Mi-" I cut off Em.
"Both of us." I blurt out. Emlyn looks at me as if asking me "What?"
"You are the future King of this land yet you allow yourself to be involved in this? What kind of King will you be in the future? You can't even handle things!" He hits the large table with his large fists.
"Father, I'm still young and you know very well that I do-" He cuts me off.
"None sense!" He shouts. His voice echoes the room. "When I was your age I know how to handle things. I don't take everything for granted, not like you." He points at me.
Silence envelopes the room as we keep both of our eyes on something but our father. I can see him in my peripheral view fixing his rings between his fingers. He sits back and speaks. " Mrs. Streight and Mr. Boldwise please come in." The door opens and she enters.
"Mrs. Streight, I want you to change my son's hair color to brown with streaks of blonde and keep Princess Emlyn's hair below her shoulders." Father says.
"Father, yo-" He cuts off Em.
"If his blonde hair grows back, I'm giving you the privilege to turn it back to brown." He ignores us completely. I clench my jaw.
"Yes, King Alrick." Mrs. Streight bows down at him.
"I'm apologizing in behalf of my two children on what happened this morning." He says.
"You don't have to, your highness, it's fine." Mr. Boldwise says humbly. Father just nods.
"Now, the two of you. Both of you will go to the village everyday Monday after your classes. You will serve our people until you're eighteen. Learn from your actions." He dismisses us.
***
In the afternoon, we are sent outside with four centaurs, two elfs, and a white pegasus. We are in front of the castle and just like what father has said, we are going to the village to interact and serve the people there.
"You are both given one elf as a servant and also a guard, not only when you go to the villages but for everyday purposes." Our father says. "Princess, you'll have Taitha as your servant." The elf smiles at her sweetly. "And Prince Harvey, this is Pete." He waves at the centaur for a moment I was confused until a shy, nervous, unsure elf pops his head out.
"Hey, Pete." I wave at him.
"Both of you will ride the pegasus with Pete and Taitha, the pegasus knows what to do."
We get on the pegasus Pete first, then me, Taitha, and lastly my sister. As soon as we are comfortable in our position the pegasus went off.
Immediately we are on tood of the trees navigating through the village. The fresh air hits my face and I look down to see hunters and other creatures doing their business. We all have our own purposes in life but not all can choose what they want to be, just like me.
I close my eyes and savor the moment. This is the only moment I'll feel liberated and be just the real me. No one knows me too well to understand my desires. My desires are outside the big walls of our castle. I wonder when that day comes when I can be my true self without someone pointing out.
