The night had a cloudless sky showing all the stars twinkling like diamonds. Everyone in the castle prepared for the masquerade ball. The royal family invited there relatives to the ball for the coming of another royal family from another kingdom. The king from the other kingdom decided for his son, the prince, to at least know a person with the same status as him.

"My lady, are you ready?" a maid knocked at the princess' door."I'm coming in." the maid continued.

The princess was seated in front of her mirror while another maid was fixing her hair."I'm almost done." the princess replied. As the maid finished and stepped a side, the princess attached the final piece of her costume, the mask. She opened the door and both maid bowed as she left her room. Walking towards the door that leads to the ballroom one of their butlers held the knob and pushed it open for her. Everyone stopped and stared as she descended down the stairs. Once she reached the bottom, the music starts to play. She looked around for a partner to dance with then she felt a hand touch her shoulder."May I have this dance?" he asked with a smile on his face as he bowed in front of her. She took his hand and headed to the dance floor.

They bowed at each other and started to dance."You look beautiful tonight, princess. May I ask your name?". She looked into his eyes. His eyes were beautiful brown."Louise. My name is Louise Prescott . May I ask yours?" she said innocently with a hint of shyness."My name is Vincent Carlton ." he said smiling at her. She couldn't stop staring at him. It's like she could see through that mask he was wearing. His smile was refreshing to see. His calm voice was good to hear. His hair was brown and straight. Then she looked at his eyes, it was beautiful. They locked their eyes at each other. As soon as she noticed they were staring into each others' eyes. she looked away, as she felt warmth in her cheeks. Good thing we wore a mask. She thought, otherwise he would have noticed her blushing.

"What seems to be the problem, Princess Louise?" he asked. She felt butterflies in her stomach as she heard his voice. She shook her head. She felt that Vincent was still staring at her. "Am I making you uncomfortable?" he asked. She turned to him and saw a little sadness in his eyes as he looked at her. "No, it's just..." she felt the warmth from his hand that was holding on to hers."I-I don't know how to make a conversation with others. I don't leave the palace grounds so I don't know anyone that much." she said as she felt embarrassed.A hint of relief fell on his face while she continued blushing. Their eyes were glued to each other, they had a feeling that they didn't want to look away. At that moment they didn't care of the people around them. They felt like the only people in the dance floor. A couple of minutes has passed and noticed the song was almost finished. Once the music has stopped, everyone faced their partners and bowed at them. Louise left the ballroom and stepped outside. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths. Once she opened them she looked up at the clear sky filled with twinkling stars. She then heard a calm low voice, "Beautiful isn't it?" Vincent said looking up at the sky as well. She nodded with amazement on her face as she kept on looking at the sky. She turned around to look at him, once their eyes met she looked down.

"Vincent..." she said in such an innocent voice. "Yes? What is it Louise?". "Would you like to have tea with me tomorrow?" she continued. "I would gladly accept." he replied with a smile on his face at her. They sat at a bench and talked to each other for the rest of the night. The kings and queens of both kingdoms smiled with satisfaction.

The next day, Vincent and his family arrived at castle of Louise. As they entered, servants bowed and greeted them. One of the servants lead them to the rose garden where the king and queen along with Louise were talking while having tea in the gazebo.
