In The Late Summertime

Chapter 1

I was sitting in class. I was so bored." When is this suffering going to end" I whispered to myself. Just then the teacher called me." Daisy can you answer this question". I froze. The bell rang loudly through the silent classroom.

I took a deep breath of relief. I stood up and rushed toward the doorway. I ran into a boy as he was walking into the doorway. The bump was so hard that it sent all of my books flying out of my hands.

"Oh, I'm so sorry, here let me help you" the boy said to me. I looked up at him. Then I froze. I instanly knew that I liked him." My name is Richard, but you can call me Rick" he said." Where's your next class" he asked me. I brushed my long brown hair behind my ear." Oh, I'm just headed upstairs to biology" I said. I could feel the blood rushing into my cheeks.

"Hey, I'm headed up there too, why don't we walk together" he said. He quickly grabbed a piece of paper from his binder and ran to the teacher. He handed it to him and hurried back to me. We left and quickly made our out of the room and to the staircase.

We hurried up the stairs and down the hall to the last classroom on the right. The teacher looked at the door and waved us over." You two are lab partners" he said. I looked over at Richard, who was smiling at me. I had no idea what to do so I smiled back.

We walked over to our lab table where my friend Rachel and Lily were sitting." Hey girls, this is Richard" I said to them. They looked at him with straight faces. Then they smiled and introduced themselves. I thought they weren't gonna like them but I guess I was wrong.
