"Over here beast!" Loki shouted as he readied a dagger.
The beast turned, locking its gaze on Loki. It breathed heavily.
The beast was enormous and powerful. Its muscles were rippling beneath it striped black and white fur. It had the build of a lion. Its head was as huge as one of the biggest courtyards back at Asgard. Its face was close to that of a wolf's. It had a purple flowing mane and wickedly pointed curling horns on either side of its head. Each of the beast's 4 paws were large enough to crush a small town whole.
It opened its mouth to let out a bellowing roar that almost made the group lose their sense of hearing, it left their heads ringing. It bared its fangs at them, also revealing rows of sharp, pointed teeth. Loki estimated a huge boulder could fit in its mouth and get crushed to bits.
Loki twirled the dagger in his hand. In his peripheral vision, he saw Lady Sif and Hogun helping Volstagg up. He had been swatted away by the beast when he charged at it so head strong. He had knocked his head on a rock pretty bad that he fell limp.
Loki threw the dagger at the beast and drew another one. The dagger found its mark in the beast's eye. The beast yowled and swatted at its eye then growled at Loki. It pawed the ground and lunged at him, only to go right through Loki. The beast shook its huge head, confused.
Out of nowhere, Thor jumped down from an overhanging precipice and brought down his hammer on the beast's head. Almost at the same timing, Fandral appeared on top of a huge boulder and used it as a launching pad to stab the beast's flank and climb to its back. Loki appeared right below its chest, he had picked up his spear which was also swatted away by the beast awhile back. He drove the spearpoint into the beast's chest, where the heart should be, then he dissappeared once again.
The beast squeaked once then went limp. Thor jumped off of its head and raised his hammer.
"The beast is down," he screamed in victory as Lady Sif and Hogun approached him, a limping Volstagg between them. Fandral trotted over, laughing. Loki appeared from behind one of the beast's horns.
"A Geirmandr," Hogun said, shaking his head,"who would've known."
Loki paced to the beast's eye, where his dagger was embedded.
"And we would not have met one had it not been for your reckless gallivanting," Loki said, pulling the dagger out and jumping down from the beast. He approached the others.
"Don't be such a downer, brother," Thor said, patting his back a little too strong, "we had a good hunt."
Thor gestured at a pile of game. His friends agreed.
"Tonight there shall be a feast!" Volstagg said, licking his lips.
Lady Sif shook her head at him,"After all that's happened to you, you still think of food?"
The group laughed. Except for Loki, who just offered a smile. The group agreed that it was time to head back. Each of them picked up as much game as they could carry then gathered into a small circle. Thor looked up into the sky.
"Heimdall! Bring us home!" He shouted and almost immediately, a circle of bright light enveloped their small group, transporting them back home.
Heimdall was just sheathing his swird when they arrived in the dome of the Bifrost. He smiled at them.
"That was a pretty good hunt," he told them.
The group, excluding Loki and Hogun, nodded enthusiastically.
"You better bring your kill to the kitchen, just seeing them maked me hungry," Heimdall said, acting casual around them. They were close after all.
