"We have a problem, brother." The older Salvatore said through the phone.

"What is it? You didn't kill her, did you?" Stefan asked.

"The girl has vervain in her system. I tried to compel her, but," he chuckles, "she sure has fire."

"Why did you try to compel her? I thought you were doing this as the - what was it again - 'classic Stefan?"

"Yeah well, I get bored easily. Look, I just wanted to check if I could compel her because it'd make everything so much easier. I put my number in her phone so I could just - you know - compel the girl to go along with this."

The brother on the other side of the phone lets out a sigh in frustration, while letting Damon continue.

"I could've taken her home, find out everything we need to know, get rid of her and tada, all solved."

"It won't be easy to get her to like you again now that she thinks you're a total dick, brother."

"Lucky for you, I already came up with a plan. There's only one small thing..."

"What is it?"

"You won't approve."

*** A FEW MINUTES EARLIER **

I wait for a reaction, but he doesn't show anything. His eyes give nothing away either. He just keeps studying my face. There goes all my freshly gained confidence. My hand is awkwardly hanging in front of me. Why is he making this so difficult? I pull my hand back slowly, hoping he won't notice how big of a flop I am. I start brainstorming for something I can say - anything, really. I just want to get out of this situation. He makes me want to drown in his eyes, they're so beautiful, so blue. Like an ocean. But at the same time, all I want to do is hit him for making me feel so stupid and uncomfortable. Just as I wish for the ground to split open and swallow me in it, he opens his mouth.

"I'm Damon, but I think you knew that already." He looks me in the eyes, "Look, I'd love to chit chat but right now I need you to do something for me."

I frown. What does he mean by that? He lays his hands on both of my upper arms, again slightly bending so he's at the same height as me.

"I need you to get into this car and go home. When you arrive safely, call me. Ask me out, talk about me with your friends , I don't know, you just want to be with me, alright? You have the biggest crush on me." He pauses for a second. His pupil grows bigger and smaller. "Did you get that?"

"What..." I breathe, not being able to get what he's saying to me. Is he serious? I struggle to try to get away from him because his grip is so strong, but as I put my hands against his chest I manage to push him off of me.

"Look, I don't know what you're trying to do here but I don't exactly think obligating girls to like you is the best way to do whatever is that you're doing. I also don't even know why you keep talking to me and why you even noticed me in the first place, but right now you just need to back off because you're really starting to creep me out."

The words came out not as convincing as they sounded in my head but I still hope the gets the message. I quickly get my car keys and open the door to the drivers seat.

"Oh, and I'm only getting in this car because I have to go and not because you want me to. Also, try hitting on some of the brainless girls from my school next time. They're already waiting in line for you so who knows; maybe they'll fall for your weird - kinda creepy - way of flirting. But you picked the wrong girl, Damon."
