At Last

The Guard

The next morning Emma was trying to sleep later but she couldn't because their was a voice talking all around her. She rolled onto her back and opened her eyes. She was met by the sight of Jane pacing back and forth. As well as talking on a phone. She hung up then turned around to face her. Oh good your finally up Master Aro was beginning to worry that you were unwell. Being that you are still half human in some ways. Which everyone finds quite fascinating. I brought you some breakfast. It's eggs and toast along with some fresh fruit and tea. She set the tray down. Emma began to eat her food. Jane stood by the door. Emma looked up at her inwardly she was totally fangirling she couldn't believe in from of her stiff the one and only notorious Jane Volturi. She felt so honored to be in her presence. She finished her food quickly. Jane walked over and took the tray. Master Aro has set out some clothes for you to wear along with a cloak. Be ready in an hour someone will be here to escort you to the training grounds. She said as she left her alone in the room. She walked into the bathroom. She took a quick shower then dressed in the outfit Aro had set out for her at least it wasn't a dress. She dressed quickly. Then put her cloak on. She walked back into the room. Demitri was standing by the door waiting she smiled when she saw him. Hey demitri nice to a familiar face. She said yes well aro wants you to meet the rest of the guard. We all hang out at the training grounds. So that is where I will be bringing you. He replied ok sounds good. She followed him they arrived a few minutes later. Demitri opened the door for her. She walked in she was met by the sight of at least 30 guards all training. She followed demitri to a set of bleachers that a few guards were sitting and talking amongst themselves. Everyone stopped what they were doing when they noticed that Emma was there. Emma started to feel self-conscious like when it was her first day of high school and was nervous that no one would like her or accept her. But as soon as she sat down all the questions began. Like where are from? How did Marcus find you? Are you his mistress? What is your power? She started to get a headache and nervous. Demitri notice her discomfort. Okay everyone give her some room. I don't want to have to bring her back to master Aro ill. One question at a time and only appropriate ones. Emma thanked him silently he just nodded. She answered a few questions. Then demitri paired her up with jane. Which didn't last long because she was immune to her paralyzing gift. She got irritated then walked away to sue on the bleachers. The day passed quickly. Emma tried to remember everyone's name but couldnt. She wasn't worried about it though being that she had eternity to learn them all. She did learn the reason for the different color cloaks white for new members that had yet to prove their worth. Maroon was for the the ones that did. And black was for the elite guards like jane, alec, demitri, and felix. She started to relax after a few hours and was more comfortable around all the new faces. But she stayed glued to demitri side. After the sun had set demitri brought her back to her room. Thank you for taking me today demitri I really appreciated your company. She said your welcome Emma I hope that we can become close friend in the future. He replied i hope as well. Have a good night demitri. She said you too Emma. With that he left. She closed the door. She turned around and jumped a little for aro was standing right behind her. I'm sorry Mia cara I didn't mean to startle you. He apologized. It's okay I didn't realize you were there. She replied she walked around him and sat down on a chaise. Aro turned around and watched her. She was beautiful. How was your first day of training. He asked as he walked over to a wine fridge and opened a bottle and poured himself a glass. It was amazing and scary. I was a little overwhelmed at first because everyone was asking me questions all at once. But demitri saved me by putting them in their place. But afterwards was better the training was fun I never knew the guard was so large.she said. Well we do need all the protection we can get. Our allies are great but our enemies are greater. And we only take the strongest and most gifted. He replied. I see. Can i asked you something master. She asked yes. He replied i was wondering if all the new guards wear white cloaks why did I get a black one? She asked well there was no need for you to prove yourself. You proved yourself in just the act alone by bringing my sister back to life. He replied. Oh, she looked up at him master are you angry that I brought her back? She asked he looked at her to say the least I was more shocked when I saw her than angry. But I am glad you brought her back I can finally have my brother back to normal and I hated having to end her life centuries ago but she was pulling Marcus away from the Volturi. He replied. She just nodded. Would you like a glass he offered her as he poured another glass. I don't really like wine she replied he laughed it's not really wine it's aged blood. He replied smiling at her. Oh then yes i would love a glass. She replied he poured a glass for her she took the glass from him and took a sip. Wow this is delicious. She said. I'm glad you like it. He replied a comfortable silence fell between them she picked up her book and started to read. Every once in awhile she would look up and watch aro as he sat in his chair in front of the fire. She would look away when she noticed him turn towards her direction. She pretended to read her book. He smiled to himself as he sensed her staring at him. He looked at her and watched her as she sat reading her book and sipping her glass of blood. She was perfect. Everything he wanted in a woman. But he couldn't touch her for it would make her a huge target to all his enemies. He would have to settle with just being her protector. Along with just having a master and guard relationship.
