"Miss Black...? Miss Black, can you hear me?"
I woke and was blinded by a bright light shining directly in my eyes.
"What happened...? Where am I? Dude! Could you turn that off?"
The light shut off. Nurse Rose stood beside me.
"You're in medical, you took a pretty good beating."
I tried to sit up but a sharp pain in my ribs forced me back down.
"You need to rest, you have some severe bruising. You're lucky nothing broke."
"What time is it?"
"1:47, you were unconscious for about 8 hours."
I felt a sudden burst of energy, I jumped out of the bed and put on my shoes.
"Woah, woah, what are you doing?"
"I'll be fine, I need to see my daughter."
"Well, I can't stop you. But, if you feel worse comes back and no work detail tonight."
I nodded indicating I understood her.
As I entered the unit everyone went silent and stared at me......
