"What.. what time is it?" Simon said groggily, as Josh nudged him awake. It was still dark, but in late winter that could mean anything.
"Almost ten. We should probably get you home," Josh responded, standing up and brushing dirt off of his jeans.
"What! You let me sleep for almost three hours?" Simon grabbed his backpack from the ground.
"I couldn't help it, you're cute when you sleep," Josh chuckled, making his way back to the path, Simon close behind.
They made their way down using their phones as flashlights, attempting not to trip and tumble down the rest of the hill, which was practically a cliff.
The walk back to Simon's house was uneventful, the peaceful walk only disturbed by a handful of cars speeding down the desolate roads.
Josh paused at the beginning of the path to Simon's house, but a few steps away from him, Simon turned around.
"What? I don't even get a kiss goodbye?"
"Ugh, fine, come back here you needy little shit," Josh sighed.
"At least I don't show up at your house in the middle of the night," As Simon walked back towards him, Josh noticed the curtain behind the small window on the door sway. When Simon leaned down for the kiss, a muffled scream sounded from the house.
Simon spun around, "Oh no."
"YOU GO SIMON!" a female voice shouted.
"We're here for moral support!" a slightly younger female voice shouted after the first one.
Josh cackled as Simon turned pale as a ghost, "MOM! What are you doing! Is that my aunt watching too! Why?" he shouted, and a neighbor's dog began to bark.
"I can't believe this," Simon turned back to Josh, "I apologize for my family."
"No don't apologize! That was hilarious!" Josh responded, "Oh, and thanks for keeping these for me."
Josh slipped the lighter the joints back into a pocket of Simon's backpack.
"Damn you, if I get caught..." Simon said as he was walking towards his house.
"Goodnight!" Josh called after him. Simon flipped him off behind his back as he shut the door. Smiling, Josh walked back to his house, successfully getting back to his room without waking anyone. Of course, the door had been opened, and Ava had probably gone through his stuff again. Rachel and JJ would have left the door open, but Ava would at least try to not get caught. She hadn't replaced the slip of paper Josh always leaves in the doorjamb.
Josh sighed as collapsed on his bed, falling asleep thinking of ways to prevent Ava from finding things.

"Wait, Simon, have you been to an American football game yet?" Vik asked as he, Simon, and Josh walked through the hallways on Monday.
"No, just hearing 'American football game' feels weird, like, you don't kick an American football, and its called a match!" Simon said angrily.
"We should all go this Friday! It will be fun! I heard that European schools don't really put much into school sports?" Vik proposed.
"What? We're going to a school sports game? Only mums go to those, why don't we go to a professional one, or a club?" Simon asked.
"Welcome to America, where high school sports departments get more funding that the actual educational classes! Have you seen our textbooks? The first name in mine is dated '89! Nineteen-Eighty-Nine! You're not going to see a football bought in 1989 here," Josh said.
