Huge thanks to SilverCatArts for helping me out with this, this story would probably be rubbish with out her editing. Go check her out!
When she woke up she felt oddly energetic.
Like... Something was buzzing in her head that wouldn't leave her alone.
Then she remembered.
Stephanie Cordato cheered loudly as she ran down the stairs to the kitchen because today was the day and she was ecstatic, to say the least.
Thoughts began to flood her mind as she jumped down the last few steps and practically waltzed through the hallway.
The things she had heard about through books and stories and also through the news made her feel light on her feet and she bounded into the dining room.
Her goals flashed before her.
Conquering every gym leader in her path, flattening the elite four beneath her and rising to be the champion with her Pokemon by her side.
Granted her mother didn't exactly see eye to eye with her.
Regardless, she knew big things were coming for her and she was ready to face every challenge in her pa-
She fell flat on her face.
Well, that was to be expected. When wasn't she being a klutz?
The poor Delcatty mewed in distaste from beneath her, reminding her that she wasn't the only thing living in this house.
She scrambled to her feet and the cat Pokemon gave her a little hiss.
She bent down to pet it.
"Sorry, Kit. Didn't see ya there."
Stephanie gave her a little scratch under her chin and the Pokemon seemed to forgive her.
Her mom smiled up from the papers she was signing.
"Good morning, Steph. Are you alright? Kit didn't scratch you, did she? Breakfast is on the counter."
True enough, there on the counter lay 3 pancakes, neatly stacked on top of each other.
"I know you don't like syrup, dear, but if you want any it's in the cabinet."
She grabbed the plate and sat down, kissing her mother good morning.
"Don't worry about that, mom. This is fine."
She began to eat them, not seeming to pay too much attention to her surroundings.
The sound of her mother's voice brought her back down to earth.
"Big day, hm?"
"Yes!" She said in excitement, hazel brown eyes twinkling in the light.
"You have no idea how, how thrilled I am to get my very own Pokemon who'll be with me through thick and thin, rain and shine-"
"Slow down there, Stephanie. I talked to the professor last night and he said he'd be more than happy to give you one. He's expecting you in a little bit, so you really must get going. The lab is a bit far after all."
Stephanie sighed with joy.
"Just like in the stories... Amazing.." She whispered, stabbing her fork aimlessly on her plate.
"When will you get your nose out of those books you read?" Her mother smiled. "Though I suppose it's not hurting anyone. In any case, I just hope you're not disappointed when you step out into the real world."
Stephanie smiled at the window.
"Don't be such a pessimist, mom. I really should get going. Thanks for breakfast! I'll see you in a bit when I have my very own Pokemon!"
She hugged her mom goodbye and stood near the door.
"Pick a good one, Stephanie." She said with a soft look on her face and adoration laced into her gaze.
"I will mom. I love you."
She bent down to pet the cat Pokemon who had sauntered over a little bit ago.
"I love you too, Kit."
She opened the door and stepped outside.
"Bye! Catch ya later!"
She couldn't believe what was happening.
She was about to meet her best friend, someone to share everything with. Her highs and lows, her victories and her losses. Someone to stand by her when things got rough.
A Pokemon of her own.
"Do your worst world! There's a new trainer in town!" She cheered, making her merry way down the road.A hand grabbed her shoulder and she jumped in surprise.
"No need to be so loud, Steph. What's up?"Like I sort of mentioned in the beginning, this is a collaborative story with SilverCatArts . I wrote the main story and drew the cover art, but she did a huge favor for me and fixed grammar and re worded everything beautifully. Thanks man!
