Chapter 1

I looked around, it was getting slightly darker here and we were still waiting for the bus. With we, I meant me and the group of strangers that were going on a vacation together. I actually had two tickets, one for my best friend too, but sadly he couldn't come with us last minute. So now here I was, all alone with a group of people I have never met before in my life. The bus was supposed to be here at 4 PM, but it was really late. I went to the nearest shop to get some food, as it was close to 8 PM by now. The sun was slowly setting and I really wanted the bus to be here already.

As I sat down on the grass eating my fries I looked at the other people who were waiting for the bus with me. We were supposed to be at our destination around 10 PM, so if the bus wouldn't show up soon we wouldn't be there until after 2 AM. I sighed and laid back in the grass when I saw some shoes appear next to my head.

I slowly lifted my head to see who was standing next to me and found out there was a guy looking at me. I hated to admit he was cute but a little scary at the same time. Since it was slowly getting darker outside and he was wearing all black.

"Uh, hi?" I tried talking to him but he just nodded and sat down next to me. He kept looking at me all this time and to be honest, it made me kind of uncomfortable. I tried gathering some courage to ask him something.

"Well, uh, are you like, waiting for the bus too?" I asked him and he showed a small smile on his face before nodding and putting headphones on his head. A few moments later I could hear his music. All this time, he hadn't said a word and I had no idea who this person was.

I sighed lightly and felt myself shivering. I was only wearing a shirt, since we were supposed to leave when the weather was still at least a little warm until we arrived in France later, but there I would just get inside the place we were staying at for the night. The day after we would get on the bus early and continue our journey towards Italy. Suddenly I felt something warmer touch my shoulder and I looked up immediately, to find out that the mysterious guy put his jacket over my shoulders. It also revealed he acutally wasn't wearing all black, he had a white band shirt underneath his jacket and I smiled at him.

"Thanks" I told him. "And nice shirt" I added, still with a smile on my face. I wasn't expecting him to answer but he suddenly looked up and smiled at me.

"No problem" he replied and shifted the jacket a little so it would be better on my shoulders. He looked like he was around my height and his jacket actually felt really comfortable. I decided to sit still like this, his jacket loosely around my shoulders. It smelled a little like cigarettes but it wasn't too bad so I concluded either one of his friends were smoking, or he used to smoke but quit. I had to admit I was a little relieved about that, because I didn't really like to be around smokers too much. After sitting there in silence for some more minutes, I took my book out of my suitcase again and started reading. I think another hour had passed before people started chatting louder so I looked up and finally saw a bus coming our way. It stopped in front of us and I put my book back where I took it and stood up. My muscles were a little stiff from sitting all that time so I stretched for a little while before looking at the guy next to me.

"Thanks for letting me borrow it" I told him quietly and handed it back to him while he just kept smiling at me. He took it and slung it over his left shoulder before walking towards the door of the bus. I quickly followed him there and waited for my turn to get in. Apparently they mixed all seats and I ended up sitting next to the mysterious jacket guy. His face was emotionless until he saw me and he showed that small smile again. I went to sit next to him after putting my suitcase in the overhead luggage space. I looked to my left to see him looking directly at me.

"What's your name?" He suddenly asked and I smiled a little.

"Josh" I then told him and he nodded while playing with one of the bracelets I didn't notice he was wearing before. He wasn't looking at me and looked like he was having an inner battle with himself. He didn't say his name, though so I asked him about it and he just sighed.

"It's Oliver" he said quietly and didn't look at me again. I just sighed and looked away. We would probably travel together for the entire rest of the 2 weeks so he probably should talk to me some time.
