I began to run down the abandoned road hoping to find one of them, no such luck. About a dozen of them were chasing me down the street and I needed to escape, fast.
I went into the city to get Lee a birthday present ,because after everything he did for me I wanted to give something back. He had needed a new watch after his broke last night, so early this morning I packed my backpack and headed to the desolate town.
I ran left then right and managed to make it to the jewellery shop undetected. I approached the smashed door and hopped inside. There was a few bits and pieces here and there then I saw it, the perfect watch. I ran over to it and picked it up,it was in great condition and had batteries in. I placed it in my bag then ran outside.
I was too slow.There was a dozen of them out there waiting to pounce on me. As soon as I saw them I ran.
Hoping that I'd find Lee or Luke, I looked around. Then I remembered I left the camp to come here, alone. Damn.
I turn around looking for something, anything. No such luck. If only I was quicker, quieter I would have done it.
I carry on running,hoping to find the camp.
I turn right and see it in the distance.
Running towards it at full speed, I begin to become breathless.
I begin to huff and puff as I make my way.
I run near an old construction site when all of a sudden a hand grabs my foot and I trip grazing my knees and elbows.
I pull out a hammer and smash it into the rotten skull. The blood spraying all over my face.
I can't do this,not now.
I pick myself up, and with my stamina restored, I carry on travelling to reach my destination.
After a minute or so I'm submerged in the forest, the trees my protection.
Then I smell it. The lovely scent of fried blackbird and smoked salmon. The camp is right ahead.
With the thought of food in my mind,I walk over to where the scent is coming from.
When I arrive I'm shocked.
-This is only the first chapter, which is why it's so short. It's also short as I wanted to create suspense. I hope this doesn't put you off. Thank you.
