Flashing lights.
Loud sirens.
Smoke everywhere.
The same dreaded memory came flashing back to my head.
I looked to my right and noticed my big brother Jake was crying and yelling
"Mommy! Mommy's bleeding!"
I looked over at my mom and saw her body. s
She had broken threw the window and was on the hood of the car.
My dad was unconscious in the drivers seat and my new born sister was screaming and crying. I noticed Jake trying to unbuckle his seatbelt but it was jammed.
I tried to do the same but mine actually came unbuckled.
"Bridget!" I heard my brother call
"Go get moms phone and call 911!"
I remember mom always telling us if you ever have am emergency call 911.
I thought she was crazy telling me those numbers that didn't make since but in this situation I'm glad she did.
I climbed over Catie's car seat and up to the front.
My mom looked like something in a scary movie my parents told me not to watch when I was younger.
I began to shake her body while calling out
"Mommy!"
"Mommy please wake up!"
"Bridget get the phone!" Jake called out.
I reached into her purse that was under her seat and grabbed her phone and dialed 911.
"Hi you have reached 911 what is your emergency?" The lady on the phone asked.
"This car hit ours and my mommy isn't waking up and my dads also sleeping in the drivers seat." I was young when this occurred obviously I was to little to realize what was going on.
"Where are you?" The lady asked
"I don't know but we just left the hospital." Then complete silence ran through the line.
The phone had died.
I noticed nurses and doctors running up to our car. They opened the doors and pulled my brother out of the car and took him into the hospital as he kicked and screamed.
My sister was screaming and they took her inside to.
"Bridget honey come here we need to get you inside" the women who walked us to moms hospital room the first time called out.
"I'm not leaving without my Mommy!" I yelled. I definitely was closer with my mom than my dad. Then another doctor ran up behind me and pulled me out. I was kicking, screaming, crying as he carried me back into the hospital. I looked behind me to see blue and red lights flashing everywhere. With a squealing high pitch siren ringing through the air. I noticed a big truck with a man sitting in his drivers seat crying and mouthing the words "I'm so sorry." To me right before a police man pinned him to the ground. I turned away as the doctor took us in a room where I saw Jake and Catie. I ran up to Jake and hugged him as soon as he put me down.
"I want my mommy!" I cried
"And our dad!" Jake yelled.
"You need to stay here a couple days while your parents heal." The big doctor said.
Then the doctors tucked us in to these stiff beds and Catie into a crib and told us
"Sleep well." Then turned the lights off and shut the door.
I don't remember much after that night I remember them taking us to dad and telling us our mom is still healing till they eventually dressed us all in black and we went to this place where they put a big box into the ground and dad was crying and so was Jake.
It wasn't till 2 years later till I realized she had died for all I knew she was still healing in the hospital bed. Whenever I asked dad where's mom he said "in a better place"
I woke up shaking and crying and when I checked the time it was 6:15 which meant I needed to get ready for my first day of school.
Once I calmed down and got into the car, and was driving for a little bit I noticed a house that was up for sale forever no longer for sale and there was a little girl in a dress dancing on the lawn while a boy probably my age walking to a car with a backpack.
I thought to myself this is gonna be a crazy first day.
