Zero and Ulora made it to the city and they spoke to the priest. The priest organized the ceremony for tonight, the night of the red moon. At the moon's highest peak, they stood on the platform. They walked slowly to the pit of red fire.
"Tonight, two angle/demon children are sacrificing themselves for our human salvation. They walked up the the priest. The priest dabed a bit of holy water on their foreheads. Ulora cringed as they placed the cross symbol on her forehead.
The pain, zero it hurts. Ulora said in pain
I know. This was your idea and I am here to help. Said Zero. The walked close to the fire. The priest and the crowd did the cross symbol and they pushed the two into the fire pit. They yelled in pain and they burned slowly.
"Zero! It hurts! Gah! Zero, I... I love you..." she yelled.
"Ulora, I love you, I am so sorry...gah! All j care about is you being being by me!" He screeched. They crawled to each other. They pressed their lips together and held each other. A beam of light shot from them to the moon. The red moon became a beautiful blue moon. The two laid on the ground, hold hands. Their skin wasn't burnt and they looked like they were sleeping, like nothing happened. In a distance, they were able to hear the monsters cry and die with a loud screech. The crowd was silent, looking at their saviours. They laid quietly and restless. The priest put his hand on their pulses and he detected a heartbeat. The two sat up and looked around. They got up and the crowd went wild. At that moment, they kissed and flew off.
