When the match was over and everybody was cleaning I looked back to the second floor to try and find my sister once more. She appeared to of disappeared though it seemed. Hopefully I was just imagining her here. To my horror though I saw her walking on the courts towards the one and only Oikawa Tooru. A stray volleyball heading straight for her head though distracted me.
In seconds I had dropped the net I was holding onto and moving her a safe distance so I could receive the ball. Though her squeal of fear for the possibility of getting hit caused all eyes to turn towards the two of us. Once the ball was safely received and the moment of danger passed I sighed in relief. My sister however was shaking still in fear. So I turned to her noticing the tears building up in her eyes.
"I've told you before its dangerous to just waltz on the court, why don't you listen? Your nii-san does know a thing or two Rin." I scolded though my tone was gentle and my eyes showed concern.
"N-Nii-san th-the ball was coming at my f-face." she stuttered.
"You should probably sit down for a moment come on." with that Iead her the bench Takeda-sensei was at.
There was a stray volleyball by the bench and I picked it up. Then I scoured the people around the gym to find who sent the ball flying. They were from the opposing team and I caught sight of him. He looked upset in multiple ways. As I watched him carefully I raised the ball up. Time to let a secret slip, nobody messes with my sister.
One second I was calling out to the student. The second one the ball was thrown into the air. The third second my feet left the ground. The fourth my hand made contact with the ball. Finally the fifth second the ball zoomed past is head only a centimeter from hitting him in the face. Everything was silent for a moment after everyone looking from my pissed expression, to the other guys widened shocked/ scared expression, then to the ball that rolled right up next to the bin.
"Don't try that again or next time the ball will be aimed elsewhere." I threatened before turning back to make sure my sister was alright.
"KUGA-SENPAI!" Hinata yelled out in awe.
Aobajosai's coach and members watched me carefully after that. One in particular I could sense something sinister or was it the sense that he saw me as a rival? Even so I ignored it helping my sister deal with the traumatizing event of almost getting hit by a hurtling volleyball. She was too fragile to get hit with such force and she knows it. That is why she is so shaken up.
After wiping a few stray tears from her face I had her look at me, "Are you alright now imouto?" I asked gently.
"H-hai." She stuttered with the nod of her head.
I nodded my head before heading over towards aobajosai's team. When I reached them they all watched me wearily. While internally yelling at myself I managed to bow in front of them.
"Please excuse my behavior it was immature and uncalled for." I apologized from my bowed position.
"Eh? You were just trying to protect that cute girl. The serve was a good one though." I heard Oikawa say hinting at a relationship that didn't exsist.
Raising from my bowed position I gave him a bored look, "Yes I was trying to protect my dear fragile 'imouto'. So please do overlook this incident seeing as one hit like that could send her to the emergency room." I said clarifying things up a bit.
"If her health is that bad why is she here?" The kid with turnip hair questioned, trying to scrutinize me.
"She isn't suppose to be, she should be home resting but that is not the case. Sebastian should have made sure she stayed home but he hadn't." sighing I stopped my oncoming rant, "Even so the fact is she is here and almost got an injury that could ruin her for life, I just acted as her older brother though I should have gone a different route with my actions." I said with my eyes closed.
"It's fine~ It's only natural to retaliate like that." Oikawa said a smile masking his smirk, "Though I've a question. How did you learn to serve like that?" He questioned.
"That information I cannot provide for you. I learned in Tokyo but that's about as much as I am able to say out of respect for other teams." I stated once again my voice going back to its monotone state.
After that incident I got directions to the bathroom. Where I washed my face as though I was trying to wash away stress and the things I knew would be to come back home. Sighing I couldn't help but to scold myself, a few curse words slipping in here or there as I did so. Before leaving I looked into the mirror at my eye that was a lighter shade than the other. The color may end up fading even more after tonight, to the point I may no longer be able to see out of it.
With that thought in mind I made my way back out to my team.
