'What the hell was that?!'
I scooted my chair back so quickly I was surprised it didn't fall over.
My head craned back, towards the ceiling.
'That was loud..I know I didn't imagine that..'
Without much thinking, I bolted upstairs, going two steps at a time.
'Footsteps..and now this? I sure hope it's just something that fell..it sounded like it came from my bedroom..'
I was right, as soon as I entered my room, I found what the cause of the incredibly loud bang was.
My Dell laptop lay broken on the floor, the screen black and badly cracked. A few keys were scattered about, random letters and numbers creating a random pattern upon the wood.
"What the hell..? How..how did that happen?! My laptop was nowhere near the edge!"
I ran towards my broken electronic, praying it wasn't totally ruined.
Lowering onto my knees, I gently picked up my laptop, as if it was made of a fine, thin glass.
I pressed the power button.
It started.
The picture was now ruined due to the huge crack in the middle of the screen, but it still worked, none the less.
I sighed in relief.
"Holy shit..I can't believe that happened.."
I stood up, holding the computer in my arms like a newborn baby.
"It must have been closer to the edge than I originally th-"
I froze mid-word.
There, on the edge of my bed, was the doll.
'..What? There's..there's no way..the laptop I can understand..but the doll?'
Not a single muscle moved in my body as I stared in shock and disbelief at the life-like object perched on my bed. I didn't breath, I didn't swallow, I didn't blink. Nothing.
I was terrified.
'What..what the fuck..?'
The doll's unmoving, unblinking eyes stared directly into mine, as if daring me to make a move.
'What in the hell is going on? Am I going crazy..?'
My heart was pounding so quickly in my chest that it was painful, eyes and head throbbing from the intense pressure.
'I know I didn't move him..I know I didn't....'
As if by some magical force, I was able to regain control of my paralyzed body, and finish standing up, laptop caught in my death-like grip.
That's when I saw the sheet of rules once again lying by the statue-like doll.
'Not only did the doll move..but the sheet of rules did too? What..? Who did this?'
"Did someone break in?"
I was quick to shake my head.
'No..the intruder wouldn't of been this careless..plus..I'd most likely be dead by now if that was the case..'
I placed my laptop back onto the ground, hearing a dull thud as the machine made contact with the wood of the floor.
My hands gripped at my knees, pulling at the fabric of my black sweatpants.
