Chapter 25

**ZAYN’S POV**

I led the way into town at a slow pace unsure if how I was going to react when I saw the new Delilah.

The better one?

The broken one?

For all I know she has completely changed, maybe she is above me now, to good for me, then what? Am I going to keep her here? Trapped in a cage of love that only goes one way? That seams hardly fair.

I feel a cool hand on my shoulder sending my head shooting up.

“It’s okay mate, we will find her,” said Niall with a smile “Natalie knows where she is”

I nod refusing to look at Natalie. She shy’s away and steps ahead of me as we approach the dirt road signaling that we are close to town.

Of course I probably could have been closer then I was with Natalie, I could have tried to make a bond with her, become friends, but that is no excuse to deprive me of the only things that all vampire’s really have.  While she is frolicking around the house arm in arm with Niall I am up in my room sobbing and she doesn’t even think twice about telling me.

Now we are starting to see the buildings lining up next to each other, each unique in their own way. Vintage charm renovated to perfection with white fences and perfectly paved sidewalks.

Delilah continues to walk past the perfection of the town and towards the side that isn’t quite so perfect, the part that would better be described sketchy.

This is where the old diner sits, next to it a musty record shop that no one goes into, and then a couple of old houses.

Delilah stops in front of an alleyway filled with teenagers. I cough as the smell of smoke fills my lungs and the whole alleyway turns to look at us, silent.

I clear my throat “H-have any of you seen a…a um, Delilah?” I ask stuffing my hands in my pockets.

Slowly but surely, one by one every single teenage dirt bag and run away starts to laugh.

I clench my fists and run up to one of the boys towards the back. I pin him against the wall with one hand and hold the other one close to his face.

“I will make you experience so much pain that you will wish that you were dead, now where is Delilah” I said

The boys mouth dropped “y-y-your eyes” he said as he began to tremble and the alleyway yet again grew quite.

“WHERE IS SHE!” I screamed.

“The diner” said a girl from behind him sending him wiping around “She went to go see Caleb’s friend in the diner.”

I look back at Natalie and Niall, they both looked scared but in a different way.

“What?” I ask as I walk up to Natalie at a quickening pace.

Her eyes meet mine and they have pity in them “Caleb’s friend i-is Jai, Jai works in that diner,” she said turning her head.

My mouth drops and I run out of the alley at vampire speed and into the old diner with the flickering light.

Of course the whole place is empty, not a single person sitting in one of the seats like they usually were, not a smile from the cash register.

The place was completely empty.

Suddenly as Natalie and Niall walked in the diner I heard a loud thump from the back of the store.

Without thinking I walked straight into the kitchen to see a red headed girl on the floor clutching the side of her face and Jai standing over her.

I looked from him to the girl who slowly turned around before her green eyes met mine.

“D-Delilah?” I asked, as my bones became jello.

Jai started to push me out but I grabbed his wrist and threw him onto the floor.

I walked past him towards the little girl curled up in a ball on the kitchen floor but as soon as I reached out for her she scrambled back.

This is when I realized that Delilah was more scared of me then Jai.

I crouched down so that we were eyes level “Delilah, I-I am so sorry I never meant to hurt you and I wont-“

I was cut off when I felt him lift me up and rip the necklace form my neck,

He held my arm in the sunlight peering through the window and I screamed.

“GET OUT OF HERE BEFORE I LET THE REST OF YOU BURN YOU BASTERD” he screamed as he put my arm further and further into the suns deathly rays

“STOP!” said a small voice from the doorway.

Not Eliza small, not Jade small, not even Delilah small, but Natalie.

Jai pulled me out of the sun but still held tight grip on my arms so that I couldn’t leave.

“W-why are you doing this?” she asked as she looked at Jai with tears in her eyes

“Because it is the only way that you will listen to me! You don’t want to be with them Natalie you want to be with me!” he said

She looped her hands together and looked at the ground.

“And if I go with you, then will you leave them alone?” she asked “For good?”

“Natalie stop it,” I said as I struggled to get out of his hold “I have got this under control”

“Will you?” she asked

Jai nodded and Natalie sighed, “Then go ahead,” she said holding out her hands.

At this moment Niall ran into the kitchen and Jai let go of me and grabbed onto Natalie.

“What’s going on?” he asked as Jai hugged her closer and she sadly wrapped an arm around his neck.

“She finally made the right choice,” he said with a wink before running out of the diner.
