"Food's ready!" Big Mike shouted from behind the grill, children raced inside to get their food first as adults yelled at them to slow down.
Michael walked over to the shallow end of the pool where the steps where and set me down to where I was sitting at first. My first instinct was to punch him in his chest, he scared me to death. He rubbed the spot that I punched in a circular motion and pouted. I smiled and wrapped a towel around my body. I walked over and began putting food onto my plate. Some women eyed me until I sat down and began eating my food, they looked disgusted.
I sat down by Michael and continued to eat. "Why are they looking at me like that?"
"Who?" I pointed with my eyes and Michael turned his attention to the group of women sitting around a circular table. He laughed. "They're old fashioned, probably mad because you didn't make me a plate before you started eating for yourself."
I scoffed and took another bite of my burger, I can't believe women still think that they need spend every waking moment catering to their man.
Michael got up to get his food for himself and told me that he'd be right back, I nodded my head and continued to eat, this food was so good. My phone began to vibrate and Ace's name popped up on the screen, I instantly rolled my eyes before answering.
"Hm?" I said nonchalantly.
"What are you up to?" Ace said, I already knew what was next, I sighed and took another bite of my burger, finishing it up.
"Nothing, Ace. What do you need?"
"Can you come in tonight? I know you don't work today but I don't have anyone to work your shift since Jeremiah left. Please, I'll pay you a little extra."
"Ya, ya. Whatever."
"Thank you, that's why you're my favorite neice."
"I'm your only neice," I giggled. "Alright Ace, I'll see you later."
I gathered all of my things and began looking for Khari and Sa'liyah, I could hear her annoying high-pitched voice from a mile away. She was saying random stuff, I walked into the front yard to see her dancing around, begging for Khari to join her.
"C'mon Riri, let me see you work work work." She slurred her works and continued to dance around with no music. Khari turned to me and shook his head.
"We have to go," Khari got up and unlocked the car. Sa'liyah got in the back and immediately fell asleep.

I handed the man his drink and took his crisp money in return, he thanked me and moved closer to the dancers. I cleaned the glasses as I watched them as well, my girl Maje was doing her thing tonight. I clapped as she finished up and went back stage to change, she always looked so happy when she was up there.
"I was waiting for your call." A voice interrupted my thoughts, I turned around to see the big red star again. I poured him his usual drink and set it down in front of him.
"Jayceon, right?" He nodded his head. "Why did you want me to call you?"
"I've been coming in here every night looking for you or a call or something. I need to talk to you."
"Do I know you or something?"
"No, no. I told you no already."
"I know but, you look so familiar. It's your eyes or something." I said stepping closer to him trying to get a better look at his eyes. He pulled the sunglasses down from on top of his head, I made a face and went back to working. "What do you need to talk to me about?"
"We can't talk here, jut call me." Before I could say anything, he walked away, leaving another hundred dollar bill on the table. This time he didn't even touch his drink. I shook my head and cleaned up the bar, slipping the hundred into my pocket.
Just after Jayceon left, Maje came from the back in a nike sweat suit and sat down at the bar. I gave her a water bottle and she chugged it down.
"How was I?" Maje smiled.
"Great, like always. You killed it out there, girl! You have to teach me some of your moves."
Maje laughed. "I will. Yaya, why don't you become a dancer? You would make so much more money then what you're making over here and you have the perfect body for it."
"I don't think I could do it, I mean I wouldn't mind. You look so happy up there night after night but dancing is your passion, I don't think it's my thing."
"Girl, all you have to do is stand up there and look pretty and the money just comes to you." We laughed together at her comment. "I seen that fine ass man you were with, he's been coming in here every night. Who is he?" Maje leaned on the table and held her head up with her fist under her chin.
"Jayceon. I don't know what he wants but, I feel like I know him. Something about him looks familiar, like I knew him when I was younger or something."
Maje nodded her head. "Well you probably do know him, maybe he was one of your friends fathers or something, and you know how I love daddies." She stuck her tongue out, I gasped and laughed. "OK, let me stop. Do you need a ride home? We can go get dinner or something too."
I looked at the clock behind me and grabbed my things from under the bar. I checked my phone to see some messages from Michael.
Mikey 👀😋 | 9:01 pm : you left?
Mikey 👀😋 | 10:15 pm : Did they really make you that mad??
Mikey 👀😋 | 10:27 pm : I'm sorry if they did. I can't control them
Mikey 👀😋 | 10:59 pm : Sorry 🙍🏾
I texted back immediately as I followed behind Maje to her car.
Me | 4:07 am : No they didn't make me mad at all. I got called into to work and I had to rush there
"Who you texting, girl?" Maje asked as she pulled away from the club, she drove to ihop and we sat down at a booth.
"This guy I met at the club, bitch he is fine." I pulled a picture from his instagram and she eyed me.
"Mhmm, he's cute. But he a little too young for me."
"Maje, you better stop messing with these old ass men. That's nasty!" I was now laughing uncontrollably, holding my stomach. My phone began to ring and I picked it up with out looking, I wiped the tears from my eyes and inhaled deeply trying to calm down.
"Hello?" I fanned my face to stop the tears.
"Kenya?"
"This is she," I looked at my phone seeing it said NO called ID. "Who's asking?"
"Baby, it's Omari. I'm coming out soon."
