I woke up to the sounds of my father on the phone, hes always on the phone. Hes what you call a workaholic. I slowly got out of bed and looked at the time, 6:45am. I slipped on my pink bunny slippers and made my way downstairs. "Whats for breakfast?" I asked my father. "I have to head into work early, make breakfast yourself today sweety" He kissed me on the forehead and quickly made his way to the car. I went over to the cupboard and decided on cheerios, my favorite. I got changed, jeans and a blue t-shirt. I tried to brush through the large knots in my hair but decided I wasn't trying to impress anyone.I headed out the door and started walking to school.
When I finally arrived I was early, considering I got up at 6:45. I sat down and starting reading, I'm a bit of a bookworm.
Eventually I noticed more students pouring into the building so I decided to close my beloved book "Of Mice and Men."I got up and slung my bag over one shoulder and started walking to the cafeteria.
When i got there I looked for an empty table. I hate people, I stay away from them, they stay away from me. I found a table and opened up my book once again. It was getting so good. My reading was interrupted by the school bell, back to reality. I quickly stood up and made my way to class.
I went directly to the back of the class and pulled out my book once again. I buried my face in it and ignored the world around me. This was my happy place. Suddenly, I felt a hand on my shoulder "Put the book down Ravyn, this is math class." I finished up my page and shoved it into my school bag.
I looked up to the front of the class, and eventually started day dreaming. "Pay attention!" Exclaimed Mr.Biggs. I snapped back into reality, and noticed an unfamiliar face in front of the class. Curious I listened closely to what he was saying.
"I'm Keegan Ryder, I just moved here from Chicago." He gave a nervous smile. "Um, that's about it." He said, scratching the back of his neck.
"Okay, take a seat Keegan." Said Mr.Biggs.
Keegan made his way back to his seat, which was directly in front of mine. "Just another new student, nothing interesting" I thought to myself. I went back to day dreaming. Until I was rudely interrupted by the bell.
The rest of the day was the same, long and boring.
When I finally got home, I went straight to my room and sat in my yellow bean bag chair. I grabbed my book, and started reading from where I left off in Math class.
Suddenly, I heard a loud beeping noise. I soon realized that I had fallen asleep reading. I got up and hit OFF on my alarm clock. My neck was stiff and my back hurt. "Note to self, don't sleep on the beanbag." I made my way downstairs. Obviously, my father was no where in sight. I sighed, and walked over to the kitchen. I took the cheerios, a bowl, a spoon and some milk and made a large bowl of Cheerios. After I was finished, I went back to my room, and started getting ready for school.
I decided on my usual attire, blue denim jeans, a plain colored shirt, today I chose red and my matching red converse. I place my hair into a quick bun.
I checked my watch, 8:15. Damn. I didn't realize how long that took. I grabbed some gum off my desk, and popped it into my mouth to freshen my breathe. I grabbed my black Jansport bag and slug it over one shoulder and quickly made my way down the stairs and out the house.
On my way to school, I noticed Keegan Ryder, the new kid. He was walking with Tiffany, the grade A bitch, on the other side of the street. He's been here one day and she's already all over him. What a slut. His arm was around her waist and they were engaging in conversation. He looked like the player type, the type to be the quarterback of the football team. He was very attractive, brown hair, tall and muscular, perfect jawline and the brightest blue eyes I've ever seen. But, he wasn't my type, quite frankly, nobody was my type. I don't date. I've had one boyfriend, whom I don't feel like talking about. I don't have any friends. I'm a loner, and I like it that way.
The rest of the walk was quiet. I hear Tiffany laugh once in a while and occasionally a car would pass by, but other than that it was quiet. Just the way I like it.
When I got to school, the bell rang and I made my way to English class. English was my favourite class, Miss Peters was a great teacher, and I was allowed to read my book. I took a seat in my usual spot, at the back of the class by myself.
As I buried my head into my book, a shadow hovered over me. I looked up to see, Keegan.
"Can I help you" I snapped.
"Chill out" He said "Miss Peters told me to sit here, it's the only available seat. Lucky for you" He said and winked at me.
"Oh, yes. I must be the luckiest girl alive" I said sarcastically.
"Trust me, you are. Everyone wants a piece of this" He said pointing his 2 thumbs at himself.
"Of course" I mumbled to myself.
I was right, he was he type I thought he was. Arrogant, cocky and full of himself. Of course, I would be stuck with him for the rest of this year. I have a feeling English class won't be my favourite anymore.
