The School Day Part 1

When I got on the bus I sat up front right behind Kate because I had no idea where to sit. I looked out the window and saw the familiar houses go by. We stopped to pick up two kids. As the door opened I regongnized one of them. It was Abby Lucksweet who was a seventh grade, blonde, blue eyed, and tall but not very friendly. She was very spoiled and annoying and I should know because Danny and I remember fourth grade. But that's a story for another time.

The other kid was an eighth grader who looked familiar from my fifth grade bus ride. He had brown hair that was cut low and brown eyes. He and Abby went and sat toward the back of the bus. There was no one left to be picked up so the bus headed to the school. We took a turn left and went straight to where there were a ton of old houses as we drove by.

When we got past the houses we got to a huge parking lot with baseball and soccer fields just beyond it. This was the visitor parking area. On the other side there was two teachers guiding busses and cars. There was one really huge teacher by the doorway with not much hair. Then guiding the busses was an average-sized guy with sunglasses and short black hair. We rode to the staff parking area where all of the kids were being dropped off. The bus driver parked opened the door and let us out of the bus.

As I walked out of the bus I noticed that our principal, Dr. Jensen, was standing outside. "Good morning", he said as everyone walked past. Everyone was walking slow, probably because it was the first day back to school and everyone was used to sleeping in late. Except for me. I can't sleep in late my body always wakes me up at 7 or 8 in the morning on a weekend or break. On a school day I have to wake up at 6:30 even though some people wake up at 6.

When I walked in the door a huge building formed around me with four different hallways to go through. The left hallway was the Spanish classes, the Office, and the library. Foward was the main hallway with a gigantic chandelier hanging from the ceiling. It was the center of the entire building making it easy to escape a fire. It also branched off into many other hallways. The other hallways had art class, music, Communications class, Action Lab class, lockers, the cafeteria, gym, and the stairwell. The right hallway had my set of classes and my locker. But I wasn't going there yet because first we all had to meet in the large gym,(yes we have two gyms), before we went to class.

I sat next to my friends and my cousin as we all sat and waited for the first day of school assembly started. The cheerleaders practiced on their mats while we waited for them to start off the assembly.

---------------------------------

"Good Morning!" Dr. Jensen shouts full of excitement."Good Morning,"the students say like they had not sleeped in years. "What was that?" Dr. Jensen shouts still smiling. "GOOD MORNING!" The whole room feels like it's going to fall apart with how loud it got. "That's better!" He yells into the microphone. What comes next no one is prepared for. SCREECH! The room starts screaming after that happens. "AHHH! MY EARS!" People start shouting. Yep this was going to be a fun school year.

--------------------------------------------------

Dr. Jensen dismissed us and I went straight to my locker. My stuff I had put there at orientation had been there. Most of it was paper, folders, and spiral notebooks. I grabbed my binder organized for all of my classes in order. Math, Science, Gym/health,Social Studies, Reading, English, and Action Lab. I had more for when the quarter changes which are Music, Art, and Communications. I went to Advisory/homeroom which turned out to be right across the hall from my locker. "That was convenient," I told myself as I walked in the door.
