After the whole incident in the restaurant, we drove to our hideout. It was situated deep, deep in the woods. We had to take some precautions and so we left the car and covered it with leaves for camouflage. We then set on foot to our hideout.

I surveyed our surroundings to make sure no one was in site and opened a trapdoor on the ground that was extremely well hidden. I made my way down a ladder and into the underground room that my dad and i had personally dug. It was meant for a bomb shelter or some sort, in case something went wrong and we had to hide, for emergency purposes.

With the wolf situation ocurring , this room became home for Sean and I. Sean's dad was presumed to be with my dad during the day of the outbreak, he too is being presumed dead. So, Sean and I have been living together ever since. We sneak into the city during the day, where less wolves prowl the streets, to stock up on our daily supplies of food, water and basic necessities.

We also have a weapons storage- Sean's most prized possession which he would not let me touch at all, but i've snitched a few touches here and there. Sean's dad had a hobby of hunting and owned all sorts of guns. Sean only carries a revolver around at all times just in case, with the safety on of course.

There was an awkward silence between us. It was a oddly satisfying silence, like we were the only two people in the world and we had no worries...

"Rach, your leg"

I drooped my head towards the floor and saw that i had a gaping wound. And suddenly, as if seeing it caused the wound, i felt pain again. My legs gave way and I slopped onto the ground.

"whoa, i gotcha"

He reached out in time to set me down gently on the ground. For a while there, all we did was stare at each other. It was weird. Sean and I never felt anything well, romantic against each other. That'll be too weird.

Wow, he had really long lashes and damn, his hair, it looked so soft i had the urge to skim my hands through it and his lips, did it ever look that full... snap out of it Rach! what're you doing?

Sean lifted an eyebrow at me in confusion, but I swore I saw a slight smile slip.

"I'll grab some bandages and the first aid kit in the car"

After he left, I just couldn't stop thinking: Is it just me, or is there something going on between us?

I mean, we've known each other for a pretty long time and I just couldn't help thinking that maybe I did feel something for Sean and he did too ...

Just then the trapdoor slammed open, in comes Sean sweating profusely and there was an obvious scar on his right cheek. Fresh blood was gushing out from it.

"Sean! what happened out there?!"

"The car's gone Rach, I'm sorry. They came *pant* and they knocked it *pant* down"

There was clear, fear-stricken panic in his voice.

"Hey, it's okay. We're safe here" hoping these words would assure him.

He seemed to have calmed down a bit and he started to bandage my leg.

Just then i remembered , "Did u get the map out of the car?" I asked frantically.

"oh shit, no i didn't. Fuck."

Great. we lost our only transport, had no map to find dad's lab and now, we're both injured.

"Sean! How could u forget the map! that's literally the only thing that could lead us to dad's lab and now..."

He shut me right up when he pulled out the map from his back pocket "Oh i was just messing with you Rach" He mocked.

"you lying son of a B-"

"you say that to me and i'm gonna kiss the life out you" he smirked.

what did he just say? He's gonna ki-

My thoughts were interrupted by a piercing howl of... a wolf.
