‘So that’s what happened after we parted ways’ Griffin finished telling the story of how he went to live his new life, after he and Marna parted ways. After almost a year, he finally overcame the grief of losing Rose, and set off to live. He hiked for days, and soon found a town where he could settle down, and use the skills he’d learnt at the Medical School. He started a small clinic, selling all sorts of natural remedies, and made quite a living. But soon the lifestyle became too dull for him. The same walls, lined with jars of ground Muff Nuts, and Endophil Berries. The same grey streets, with the same boring people walking through them. So he moved on, selling the last of his products and then travelling around, finding work where he could, selling all sorts of wonder-herbs. He had never met another woman who could replace Rose, though, and so had returned to Kilgrove in the hope that, despite their agreement, his son might come home, and he did!

The three of them were sitting as a family around the dining table in Krob’s home. He had served tea and biscuits, and they sat there all afternoon talking and enjoying the company of one another. Every Saturday afternoon from then on, was spent in this way. Marna moved into the old school building, which was only a few doors down from Griffin’s place. Here they lived happily ever after.
