Derin, sessiz bir kadındı. Ama o sessizliğin içinde fırtınalar saklıydı. İnsanlar onu soğuk sanırdı, oysa sadece yorgundu. Çok şey görmüş, çok şey susmuştu. Zamanla içinde duvarlar ördü. O duvarların ardında koca bir dünya vardı: yaralar, hayaller, kırık umutlar... Ama o, her sabah aynı şekilde kalktı, saçlarını topladı, kahvesini içti, işe gitti. Çünkü hayatın devam etmesi gerekiyordu. Bir gün, birinin ona "Sen çok güçlü birisin" dediğini duydu. Gülümsedi ama içinden şunu geçirdi: > "Güçlü değilim aslında, sadece mecburum." Yine de o mecburiyet, onu ayakta tuttu. Kırılmıştı, evet - ama parçalarını toplamayı bildi. Artık eski Derin değildi; daha sessiz, daha derin, daha gerçekti.
