NNnnnnnnoooooooooooooo...
I woke up immediately, the scream in my dream still echoing in my mind. The scream was terrifying to my ears but the worst part of it was that it was me. I was the one screaming in my dream, covered in blood and feeling pain in every muscle in my body. It was sheer torture to watch and feel the dream but now it had left me with an eerie feeling that something terrible was going to happen in the not too distant future.
I wiped the beads of sweat that had appeared on my forehead and got out of my bird's nest of a bed. It was tiny and I barely fit in it but it served its purpose. I stood on the cold cemented floor and headed towards my bathroom, like my bed it was tiny. It had a small stand-in shower and a wash basin with a mirror on the cracked, dull wall. I looked at myself and reflected on what it showed me. I cringed at the sight but held my gaze of my reflection; i had long black hair that reached my waist, I should be proud of it since nowadays many girls my age would not keep long hair but to me it was just something i didn't care about, it was lifeless with no shine or volume just like my dull looking brown eyes.
Some say that the eyes are the window to the soul, they should meet me, my eyes give away nothing, no emotion just the color that it is brown. My button nose and curved lips don't catch any attention all in all my face was always described by others as plain.I was 5"3' and a bit curvy not like the girls around i always see, they always looked like they came out of a fashion magazine. I was plain, i was dull, i was Arwen.
A plain jane that had nothing to offer to herself or others. I stopped my wallowing and concentrated on what i had come to do in the bathroom. I hopped out of the shower and shivered from the cold water that i had showered with, hot water was a luxury that I could not afford and considering I worked as a maid in the local town's only bar/club i could not afford alot from my meager salary. I walked up to my suitcase and stared at it, another cross on my poor life. I could stuff my whole life in one suitcase and that alone spoke volumes about my life.
It was just sad that I was nothing but a suitcase, nothing else described me, but that was how my life was. I could not and did not want to change any aspect of it but when the time came it will change again like it always has for the past twenty years. I looked at my second hand watch and was startled to see that it was four-fifteen am. A change, this was interesting, normally my nightmares would wake me up at two or three am but this was definitely a good change. I had enough time on my hands today and decided to go out for a run. I took out my run down joggers and a plain hoody with black track pants. I quickly put them on and went out of my one bedroom apartment.
As i got out of my apartment building, i got a strange sense of Deja vu but I pushed the feeling down and walked upto the sidewalk. I had not run in a while and judging from the fatigue i had developed it was definitely time to get back in shape, not that iam complaining about my body but I missed that healthy light feeling you get after a good run. I jogged my way to the town's park, it was around five am and not many people were around well who would be at five in the morning and that to in the middle of winter. One thing that was weird about me was that I was bipolar with temperature, if it was hot outside i would be wearing thermal clothing and now when it was mid winter i was out jogging in my trackies, i was definitely a group A weirdo. As i reached the park, the age old feeling that I was being watched came over me, I looked around and saw nothing. Just the barren trees and one or two street lamps that were still on, nothing out of the ordinary. I continued to a small metal bench near a maple tree and sat down to catch my breath.
God I was literally sweating like pig and I had only run a mile, my hair was a mess and sweat ran down from my forehead to my neck dampening the collar of my hoody. A cold breeze blew on the side of my face and it was heartily welcomed, I really felt thirsty and cursed myself for not thinking straight and forgetting my bottle of water. Sunlight was slowly creeping in through the morning winter fog and the sight of the park in the morning light was breathtaking. I forgot about my thirst for the moment and watched as birds of different species flew out of their nests in the nearby trees, the sight was truly amazing. I looked at my watch and it was a little past five, I had to return home as i started work at six am.
I made my way back running all the way until i reached a corner store near my place. I bought a can of cheap coffee and ramen noodles, I had an obsession with these noodles that it was sickening. I walked home dragging my aching feet all the way to my pitiful apartment. As i reached my door, i was immediately on alert, the door was ajar and I could hear noises in my apartment. I stepped back away from the door and turned around to slowly head out of the building, I shouldn't have done that because as soon as I turned my back to the door a pair of burly arms held my waist and covered my mouth. I started screaming but it was of no use as the large hand was muffling my screams, I started fighting back thrashing my arms and legs at my kidnapper. He dragged me inside my apartment and I was surprised to see two other men as big and stocky as the one who held me. They had an evil expression on their face and instantly I knew that this would have a very bad ending.
