"Meesha!" Her stepmother called her from downstairs but Meesha didn't reply. She was still snoring on her bed and dreaming about her prince charming.
"Get up you sleepy head!" Her stepmother pulled the blanket off her looking her with a livid expression.
"Stop it prince charming, I don't want to get up from my beauty sleep," she mumbled in her dream and draped the blanket on her again.
"Huh?" Her stepmother put her hands on her hips and looked at her surprisingly. Her reply really made her think 'When will this girl grow up'
"You're my strawberry milkshake, lovely dovely chocolate cake, you are a cutie pie, You are my cuppy cake, gumdrop-," she still mumbled in sleep.
"Shut up Meesha!" Her stepmother yelled and she immediately got up.
"w-what?" She stuttered and it took her a minute to register what just happened. Oh God! She felt so much embarassed.

"Clean up this whole mess in 20 minutes and dear Rameen can you give me the bowl of spaghetti," Meesha was doing the cleaning and nodded. Her step sister, Rameen, gave her mother the bowl of spaghetti.
"um.. Bano ami! Can I eat with you guys too, I haven't eaten anything, I'm hungry," Meesha made a puppy face.
"Who told you to wake up late in the morning and delay the whole work? I told you umpteenth times to get up early, do the work and have your breakfast. Not my fault dear?" her mother gave a chukle. Rameen and Rimsha laughed at their mother's reply.
Meesha made a livid face and continued her work angrily. She wanted to escape them but how? She wanted her story to end like a beautiful fairytale. Maybe a Cinderella's story's ending would be perfect. She imagined her prince charming's letter coming in the house, then her stepmother and sisters leave her for attending the ball, giving her a lots of work, then the fairy god mother appears and change her into Cinderella, making the mouses of the whole house into mans and turning the pumpkin into a cart. How romantic it would be when he will hold my hand and say, "Hello Princess!"
"Meesha!" Her stepmother's voice made her come back to reality.
"I think she had once again drifted into her fairy tales," Rameen gave a hearty laugh.
"Come on girl! grow up!" Rimsha said while laughing,"because she is an uneducated woman no rich guy would take her. We are now studying in a good college. A guy like Zayn Malik would take beautiful, rich and educated girl. Not like you! Meeshy!"
"I agree," Rameen added, breaking into real guffaws.
This statement made her heart shattered and tears cascaded down her cheeks. She stopped working for a moment and wished that her parents could see her. See there daughter, being treated like a dog. See there daughter, not having her basic rights, no education and no food. See there daughter, who was facing a cold hearted family who seemed to have no care for her.
While the family continued to criticise her she didn't stop doing her work. When she was not replying any of their sayings they switched the topic.
"Hina told me that Hassan is coming from England and will live with us until she will settle her problem with her husband," Bano spoke, eating her food.
"Poor Hina Auntie!" Rimsha tutted.
"Hassan, the one we saw when we were in childhood. The one who used to play with us! That Hassan?," Rameen asked astonishingly.
"Yes," there mother nodded while Meesha was hearing them.
"Yay!" They both yelled and jumped up and down on their seats. Bano passed them a smile.
"And I am now planning to fix Rameen's marriage with Hassan," Just as Bano spoke that sentence, Rameen face turned tomato red.
"I uh! never saw Hassan as my h-u-s-b-a-n-d," Rameen exclaimed shyly, not dearing to speak the full word.
"Hassan will definitely accept you if Mom would talk to Hina Auntie about this," Rimsha elbowed her elder sister, teasingly and Rameen hid her face.
Look whose being shy now, Meesha thought.
"Rimsha, stop teasing her!" There mother laughed.
By this time, Meesha had done her work and poured some food on her plate. Then went to her small room where she spends most of her time all alone. The whole family was now getting up to go to their working places. Bano Auntie would go for teaching and Rameen and Rimsha would go to college.
Abu, Can't you come again and hug me, console me? Nothing is better for an orphan but an education. If they had given me this, then I could have lived my life independently. I could have achieved my goals. I could have become a doctor under scholarship and lived a happy life. If they only had given me some necessities. Are you listening daddy? Meesha slumped down to the floor and cried. The bread that was in her mouth oozed out. Why did you leave me like that? Why did you marry Bano aunty, if you knew how she would treat me. Abu, Come back. I really need you.
