Timesonics: Reunion

Chapter 2

Outside the Sakura Blossom Forest, Dare had taken shelter in a cabin while his assassin was still on the hunt for him. Dare puzzled as he began to think of an explanation of why he was being targeted. The assassin could've been a hit man for hire or doing this for his own enjoyment. One thing was for sure, Dare didn't have enough time to wait around. If the assassin were to discover his location, Dare would be in for a fight for his life which was the last thing he needed.

"You've got to be kidding me." Dare thought to himself as he walked towards the kitchen. "So now I have a target on my back on top of everything else that I.." his thoughts were cut off as he heard a knock on the front door.

Dare stood still as he faced the door, holding a knife in his hand. He began to slowly walk towards the door, knife by his side, as the knocking got louder with each knock. The assassin must've found out where he was hiding. As he approached the door, Dare could hear the sounds of teeth chattering. Someone was definitely here. He quietly turned the door knob, creaked the door open to start, and then suddenly swung the door open, holding the knife in front of him as if he was ready to defend himself.

To his surprise, it wasn't the assassin he thought was coming. Instead, it was two girls who had fear written all over their face. The girl on his left wore a light blue winter coat and hair with the colors of yellow and blue. The girl on the right had bright blue hair, wore thick brown coat and a pair of glasses that fogged up over her eyes. Upon laying his eyes on them, he immediately recognized who the girls were.

"Angel? Jannine? What are you doing here?" said Dare as he put away his knife.

"Dare! Let us in!" said Angel, barging her way inside. Jannine groaned in pain as she was suddenly pulled inside the cabin by Angel. Dare quickly locked the door and walked over to Angel and Jannine who were already sitting next to the fireplace trying to get warm.

"I-It hurts..Angel." Jannine said weakly, holding her stomach.

"Don't worry." Angel said calmly, hand intertwined with Jannine's hand. "We're gonna get you healed quickly okay?"

"What's wrong with Jannine?" Dare asked as he approached the girls from behind, wrapping a blanket around the two of them. Angel looked down for a moment, then turned to face Dare.

"We were being chased by an assassin and he managed to puncture Jannine's stomach with a shuriken. She's lost a lot of blood and needs medical treatment right away."

"May I see the wound?" Dare asked as he sat down in front of Angel and Jannine."I can patch it up to prevent further bleeding." Without hesitation Angel carefully lifted up Jannine's shirt, just enough for Dare to examine the wound on her stomach. Jannine blushed as Dare examined her wound. She watched as he gently slid his fingers around the deep cut.

"H-how bad..is it..Dare?" Jannine said softly as Dare pulled his fingers away from the wound.

"It's a deep cut indeed, the best we can do for now is clean up the wound and stitch it up to prevent anymore blood loss until we can get you to a hospital." said Dare. He then turned to face Angel. "Do you remember what the assassin looked like?"

"Yes." Angel began. "He was tall, had a black trench coat, he had hair very similar to yours.."

"So then you've met him as well." Dare said, cutting off what Angel was saying.

"Wait..you've encountered him before?" Angel asked. Dare nodded.

"He tried to get rid of me as well. I managed to escape just before he delivered the killing blow." Dare said, looking over at Jannine who was laying down on Angel's lap. "I wonder.."

"Hm? What is it?" Angel asked as she held Jannine's hear, stroking her hair.

"I wonder if this has something to do with the Timesonics." said Dare. "If that assassin came after us, he may go after the others as well."

"But why would he want to target us?" Angel asked, starting to worry about everyone else who were in the Timesonics: Jason, Scarlet, Rae, Mason, Maku and Nick. What would happen to them if they were targeted.

"I don't know." Dare replied hesitantly for he was focusing his attention towards Jannine. "Now's not the time to worry about that. We need to get Jannine patched up." He stood up, then looked down at Angel.
"Stay with her while I go grab my medicine bag."

"Got it." said Angel as she watched Dare walked out of the living room and headed upstairs. She looked down at Jannine who fell asleep on her lap.
"Don't worry Jannine," Angel said softly as she stroked her hair. "You're going to be okay. As will the others. I promise."
