*Above is Olivia, she is about 3 or 4 years old*
Olivia's hand gripped mine firmly as we hid behind our neighbors house. Previous to hearing our own houses door being busted down. The screams of different neighbors had my body cringing.
No one knew... My self-conscious told me bitterly.
Finally when all the screams had come to a somewhat minimum I bent towards Olivia. Her dark chestnut colored hair hiding her face like mine, almost in a haste trying to hide the truth.
"I'm going to make a brake for it," I said as I lifted her onto my back "Whatever you do, don't look back and don't let go."
She nodded her head as it settled comfortably against the crook of my neck. Taking a deep breath I calmed my nerves down.
'Before running let your nerves settle and have a clear mind on the goal ahead.' My cross-country coaches voice rang through my head.
Automatically my body began running, long, fast strides as my eyes focused ahead. All around me I could her muffled shouts of 'There's one!' Or 'Damn! She's fast!'
Olivia took deep breaths trying not to panic at the current chaos. Each person ran after us, attempting to make me stagger or stop. Nothing would stop me, once I've set a goal I finish it.
With an opened mind I let everything go, just how my coach liked. She would always tell me, that when I did that, it was like she was seeing lighting strike.
And as promised I soon felt weightless, like I was flying. A smile graced my lips as a giggly laugh broke free and met my ears. The sound like music as I raced through the tree line.
The supernatural didn't follow having little doubt that we would survive.
Soon, I found our second house. It was small and hidden beneath the canopy of dark greens and browns the forest created. The color of the cabin blended in with the mossy color the trees provided. If not knowing what to look for the place would be impossible to find.
"We're going to be safe here, I promise." I told Olivia as she went to look around inside the cabin.
