You never wanted the moment to end, but you needed to continue with what you were trying to do. Something seemed off though. It was as if something was missing, but you didn't know what. With a sigh, you got up and looked at Toriel with a troubled look.
"What is wrong, my child? Something is troubling you."
A minute passed as you looked to the ground and sniffled, a tear falling from your face.
"I need... I need to leave. I'm sorry..."
Toriel stood and looked down at you, not bothering to wipe another tear away. Her features gained a blank look as she stared at you before answering sternly.
"I cannot let you leave, (y/n). You must stay, you will be killed."
"I'll be fine, please let me go. I know it's hard to say goodbye to someone you wish to protect, but you've taught me so much! Even if I've only been here for a short time. Please, Mom."
Toriel sighed and walked past you to the stairs that lead to the exit. She stopped before going down and looked at you, voice shakily speaking to you.
"I'm going to destroy the exit. Stay here, (y/n)."
"What? No!"
You chased after Toriel, her walking speed being the same as your running speed. As she reached the door, she spun around and engaged in a battle.
"If you're so determined and think you're strong enough to go, defeat me. Show me you're prepared."
"Mom, no. Please."
Toriel attacked with magic and you dodged everything, showing mercy each time you acted. Your soul hovered in front of where your heart was. It was glowing softly and seemed to shake whenever Toriel attacked. You were hit once. The battle ended after you showed mercy again.
"Alright, you may leave. If you need anything just call me, my child."
Toriel embraced you and gave you a cell phone which you placed into your inventory. The large doors were opened and a gust of wind blew snow into your face, you looked back at Toriel who was clutching her dress where her heart was.
"I love you, Goat Mom."
"I love you too, my child."
With that, you stepped out into the snowy forest. You dropped your head down as you heard the doors slam shut. There was no turning back now.
