Rats are awesome

Why people think rats aren't good pets.

There are a lot of people out there when don't like rats.  I happen to know some reasons why:
1. They'll  bite and scratch you.
Rats do not bite unless you pick them up by their tails, hurt them, or if they're pregnant. Ok. About the scratching. Seriously? Cats scratch. Dogs scratch. I mean, today my little Jack Russell chihuahua terrier mix scratched me and it started bleeding. Rats claws DO NOT scratch you. They're too small. I don't know who thinks that, but I'm sure someone does.
2. They carry diseases and caused the Black Plague.
Ok, rats do not carry diseases. Especially PET rats. The black plague  is another story. The fleas had the disease. The wild rats just happened to get fleas and accidentally spread it. Rats did not start the disease. In fact, any animal could have gotten fleas and spread it. And, even wild rats are less likely to get and spread diseases than wild dogs or cats.
3. Their tails are gross.
Ok right now, I just feel like your trying desperately to prove a point. Their tails help them with balance (which is important for rats, since they climb so much.) and leveling out their body temperatures. Just like how dogs sweat from their paw pads. So if they didn't have tails, they would die.
4. Rats are mean animals.
Ok I've never heard this one, but if someone has said that, then they obviously don't know anything about pet rats. Pet rats, like my precious Blu and Athena are extremely intelligent and sweet. They are like puppies, honestly. They love to play, and laugh when tickled. When their happy, they make this clicking sound that kinda sounds like cats purring. Once I had their cage opened and Athena came out, found an earring on the ground, picked it up and ran back in the cage. I had to pry it out of her mouth. Literally like a puppy.
