A Roadtrip To My Wedding

INDIANA,

After 6 hours of driving with a break in the middle in Illinois. We remembered to keep in mind to visit this place someday. Reaching Indiana, we went straight to my friends Kate's home, which was away from the city. She lives in a gated community like place which was filled with her family members. Entering the gate, it leads to a huge semi-circle in the middle surrounded with entrance of seven different houses each two storeys.

 Wow, one huge family. I was welcomed by the family members hugging and kissing me. Kate carried Anya in her arms playing with her. Anya already started liking this place. We were led to the house in the middle of the semi-circle which was the biggest of all. I was taken up to my room where I put down my bags and luggage with Anya on tow. We both are going to share the same room. Aw, Sam is not going to like it at all. 

Growing accustomed to cuddling with Anya he now loves her a lot and sleeps with her in his arms every day. I took Anya for a shower and changed her clothes and sent her off to play with the kids then I finally took a long bath to relieve the stress and exhaustion. After bath Me and Kate decided to go out just like we planned to. I informed Sam about this and we left to the malls of Indiana. 

After tonnes of shopping clothes for both Anya and Sam we decided to have dinner in a nice restaurant and I let Kate to take to the best one in the city. Sitting near the balcony we noticed that the balcony table was reserved for someone special by looking at the decorations. It was beautiful, filled with lights and bouquet. Whoever the girl is she is lucky for the surprise she is about to get. Half way through the meal I was laughing so hard at a joke that Kate told me that I spilled wine over me. 

I got up to go to the washroom when suddenly I caught a glance of seeing some known face in the balcony. I stop dead in my tracks with my eyes widening, to confirm my doubt I subtly walked towards the corner of the balcony again where my suspicion became true. Tears brimmed in the corner of my eyes to find Maxwell proposing another woman in front of me.

 I clamped my mouth when Kate looked at what I saw. Gasping, she looked at me worried while I ran to the washroom. I shut myself inside the cubicle not letting Kate inside, even after her million protests. A few minutes later I heard Sam's voice on the other side of the door. Gasping, I immediately opened the door and jumped into his arms, crying my eyes out. Crying for so long exhaustion took over me when I fainted in his arms. 

After hours I woke up to Anya poking my cheeks to wake up with tears in her eyes. I immediately got up and hugged her to stop her from crying rocking her back and forth. She sat on my lap talking and babbling to me just when Sam entered the room with breakfast on his tray and bandage on his hand. I immediately understood that he broke Maxwell's nose and called off the wedding because of his overprotective nature.

 He came and sat beside me kissing the side of my head while placing the tray on my lap. I slowly munched the toast while waiting for him to explain "I called your parents and told them about this immediately to call off the wedding. They weren't happy about it. I swear I tried hard, but they cut me off saying 'stay out of this. It's their decision to call off the wedding or not and that they will discuss it with you". I chuckled sarcastically knowing way too well that my parents wouldn't call of the wedding so fast.

 After all it was going to fasten their business deal which could take them to great heights. I know I have to put a big fight to stop this wedding anyhow. I got up from the bed and called my parents to talk to them about this. 

About an hour into the phone I begged arguing with them that I can't marry him for a petty business deal after knowing that he is cheating on me. My dad told me his final words "if you don't marry him, then don't come to my house as my daughter". I choked hearing this and said "Fine" harshly and cut the call.

 I don't know for how long I was sitting there and crying until Kate came and hugged me. I told her everything that happened. "I always did what they asked me to. Never in my life was I going against their will. For once I wanted to do it according to my wish, but I only heard my dad asking me not to enter his house without marrying Max." I said crying. "Then do what your hearts want, " said Kate. "My heart wants nothing but to marry somebody I love and someone who loves me back truly and stay with them for as long as I live happily". Kate starts laughing. 

I look at her confused. "Sometimes the answers are right in front of our eyes. We just fail to see it." At first I didn't understand what she said, but then I looked straight to find Sam playing with Anya in his arms down on the grass happily making goofy faces just to see her laugh. I smiled, telling myself 'Just like he promised'. It suddenly hits me what Kate is trying to imply when I look at her wide eyed. "Do... do- do you think Sam will marry me?" I ask stuttering. 

She shrugs, saying "it's worth to give it a shot". I nodded my head nervously making my way down. I know it's wrong, but for once I want to not listen to my parents and do it according to my wish. I called out for Sam so that we can take a walk around the pond behind the villas with a huge grassy lawn till my eyesight could see.

 Wow Kate was really rich. "I spoke to them, they said I cannot enter the home without marrying Max" I told Sam expecting to see his reaction. He clenched his fist grinding his teeth "you don't have to listen to them Tanya. You can come and live with me. I promise you I'll take care of you". I smiled at his response, but my smile didn't reach till my eyes "But I want to marry and have kids and love one man for as long as I live." I told him biting my lip nervously.

 He stopped dead in his tracks. He avoided my gaze and just nodded his head and walked away. My heart leaped out of my chest. Not only did I call off my wedding, but my parents disowned me and now I lost the only guy who cared for me and loved me truly. My heart broke into million pieces. Wiping my tears, I looked at Kate who was standing on the balcony and showed her a thumbs down smiling sadly.

 After that I walked straight into my room and never came out till dinner. After finishing dinner and cleaning up helping Kate's Mom with the dishes I was about to go back to the cocoon of my room, but Kate's dad called me to sit and play games with them as their tradition every Friday night. I slowly went and sat next to Kate and her cousins watching them play the game of charades. Each one was supposed to decode the movie to another one.

 Everybody was split into pairs. Obviously Kate's dad made me and Sam as a pair as we sat next to each other awkwardly. I couldn't look into his eyes without stopping myself from crying so I tried to avoid having eye contact with him. It was finally Sam's turn to enact the movie to me. That was the only time when I saw him. 

He went to the center of the circle and gave a box to Kate's dad before he started acting. I looked at him trying to decide the movie "4 words... ok...." After that, he took the box from Kate dad and opened the tiny velvet box revealing an infinity shaped diamond crusted ring falling on his knees. As soon as he fell Kate's cousins jumped from behind holding a sign board saying 'Tanya Rosewood, will you do the honors of marrying the stupid idiot douchebag, but still sexy hot cute best friend aka ME and become mine for as long as I live?' I gasped crying looking at the scene in front me. I immediately nodded my head when the crowd erupted with cheers. Sam slowly got up from his knees and slid this beautiful infinity ring onto my finger and we kissed. At first it was awkward as I was thinking that I'm kissing my best friend.

 But then I remembered how much I loved him and the vice versa. Breaking from our kiss, he leaned his forehead against mine while I whispered "took you long enough..". Smiling as we turned towards the crowd to find them all dancing and hugging each other. Kate dad decided to keep the wedding in Indiana in Kate's house in the back yard. So the preparations started for the wedding...
