On a dark no-moon night, I was driving home. It was all dark and spooky, about 11:00 p.m. It was one of the coldest winter nights of the year, with swift breeze sending chills through the spine, now and then.
Then, suddenly, I stopped the car when I saw a lonely boy standing in the middle of the road with his back towards me. He was all 'dirty' with tattered clothes.
I shouted at him to get out of my way but he didn't answer. He seemed so motionless that it frustrated me. I opened the door with a 'BANG'."Are you outta' your mind?", I shouted. "Or are you deaf?", I was being mad at him, and much to my dismay, he was too oblivious of the things happening around him.
A few moments later we came facing each other, I saw tears rolling down his cheeks. All my frustration turned into concern."You all right?", I asked. He said just one thing, "I live four blocks ahead, Can you drop me there? I'm damn scared right now"
I said "fine, get in". I was wondering 'what could be the cause of his pathetic condition?'. I started, "quite a night, ain't it?". He looked at me as if I am a ghost! He said, "sure it is..."
I asked, "May I know the cause of your condition?". He said "Naah, you wouldn't believe me..."."Oh, c'mon, it couldn't be worse than the chill around here."
"About an hour ago..." he began """"I was returning from a late-night party. I thought I wasn't far from home, so I can make it alone. But things started getting spooky when I heard a 'POP' sound. It was my phone, a V.I.P. message had just dropped in. It read: 'Hello, it's me, quite a night, ain't it?'. I thought maybe someone's just trying to piss me.I just ignored it and continued peacefully until another mssg. came which read:"Do you reckon' ?". I checked the number, but 'crap' it was from an unknown number. Then, for the next few minutes, there it was... pin-drop📍 silence. So silent that one could even hear someone breath miles away. That eerie and uncanny atmosphere made me shiver.
I checked the time in my phone...10:10 p.m....then just as I turned it to slip it into my pocket, I saw a reflection on the back of my phone, a reflection of a man...no...a face, a dark ugly face, nasty and grotesque with a wide 'wicked' grin on it. A spine-chilling shock went up my spine. Then the face disappeared. I slipped my phone inside.
Then I felt a soft tap on my shoulder. I slowly turned my head and saw that it was.....my neighbour 'philip'.He said, 'Hey dude, let's walk together but do not disturb me. I'm busy on my phone...about to break the highscore'. I said, 'well, good luck'. Then we continued together and a few more messages dropped. That uncanny atmosphere made it look, all so, 'Old and Cold!'.
Then just as I was going to switch my phone off, another mssg. which read: 'Did you get it? You there yet?'.I messaged back and asked who it was. Another mssg. came, which read:
'You shouldn't ask... supposedly...you shouldn't know but you know what?... ghosts...sometimes come in diguise too!'. I couldn't get what he was trying explain...but a few moments later the truth conjured upon me. Lifted my head to my right to see philip turning into a demon with a face similar to the one that I saw on my phone. Then the same ugly face stared at me, except this time, it was deadlier and drooling. Then it grabbed my neck and started tearing me and before I was knocked unconcious I heard something...'Quite a Night, ain't it?'. """"I said, "quite a story kid, but, what did you say in the end, I was too focused on driving". Then the kid said, "I said it grabbed me and ATE ME...!", in the scariest of voices. Then the reality of the kid struck me like anything. I turned my head towards him to greet a face...the scariest of all the faces I've seen...then I felt sharp claws piercing my lungs and the scent of my blood sent me away. But before I was dead...I heard something..."Quite a Night, ain't it".
