Prologue:

This is the second book of the series, Dragonsbane being the first. And if you haven't read Dragonsbane, then it's okay. But here's the deal. (If you have already read it, bless you, skip this chapter)

Ralem, the new Rider of the great Elemental dragon, Jaydon, has just given his all to save his brother and his dragon from the clutches of an old nemesis, Kat. His soul, now in a dark state, lies in a cocoon-like state, from which he may never wake up.

Who is Ralem? He is a young peasant, of about twenty one years of age, a soldier. He is six foot four (ridiculously tall for back then) with shoulder-length black hair and green eyes. He is one of three, his sister and brother both think of him as dead, killed by the dragon. The powers he took on when becoming a dragon rider are that he has an uncanny knack for moving the air to his will... but he doesn't know fully what he can do. His deep crush is Arianna, a beautiful woman he tagged along with on their adventure.

Jaydon is his dragon. He was hatched fully grown. At a towering twenty-three feet at the shoulder, he is one big baby. Hatched with all his Rider's memories, he can also take on his form and become a human identical to Ralem. He is a beautiful emerald, breathes red fire, and can control wind and storm. That said, he has a soft spot for pies and jewels.

And Arianna is their friend. She didn't know Jaydon was a dragon until recently. She is beautiful and lighthearted. With high cheekbones, a beautiful smile, and saphire eyes, her past is largely unknown.

Now enough of the background. The story must proceed....
