My eyes flutter and I am awake. Niall is on the other side of the bed completely. I was actually upset about the thought that we could have been cuddling. But I was also relieved because I just met him yesterday.. I shouldn't want to be cuddling with a stranger. He stirred in in his sleep. I smiled and got out of bed and walked slowly towards the living room. The door creaked. Niall's head shot up.
I knew it.
He rubbed his eyes and look at the door and then at me. He sighed relieved.
"I'm sorry." I said.
"It's okay." He shrugged.
"I was just going to go to the living room but I didn't think you were such a light sleeper. Most people I know aren't." I started to say.
"It's okay. I probably need to get up anyway." He stretched and got out of bed.
"Mind if I accompany you?" He asked.
"It's okay." I said.
We walked to the large living room. It was a very large house. 4 floors but not as many rooms are you can imagine. 3 rooms for the kids, 1 room for the parents and 3 other rooms but one was made for a playroom and another for an office which left the last one as a guest room but they were keeping extras stored.
Niall sat on the couch and combed his hair with his hands. I turned on the TV.
"Do you miss your home?" He asked out of no where.
I looked startled.
"Well yes. I mean, we moved here, but California is my home. I love it there. I used to always stand at the beach and stick my toes in the sand." I say as I lean back as if I'm there.
"Wow. It seems nice." He said thoughtfully.
"Oh it is. Plenty of palm trees which I think this place is lacking." I laugh.
"That would be nice." He laughed not too loud to disturb the kids.
"How do you like your home here?" I ask.
"Oh it's greats. All my best lads and daily get together for football (soccer) matches and its so much fun. It really is a great time. How do you feel about your American accent here in Ireland?"
"Oh I actually think its really funny. My first day of school, when I introduced myself everyone stared at me like I was speaking a different language. I like it. It makes me stand out from the others." I smiled.
He starts walking towards the kitchen to make breakfast and I trail behind.
"I think it's nice that you have an American accent and you DO stand out from the others." He smiled at me.
It was quiet as Niall gathered the things to make pancakes. I decided to help as much as I could.
"Have you made close friends yet?" He asked mixing the milk with the batter.
"Well, one girl was very nice to me and she kept tell me how she loved my brown hair and said that I was "too gorgeous for anyone to talk to" but I didn't really understand what she meant by that.." I said thoughtfully.
"Ahh. She thinks your pretty. So many blondes in Ireland that there are less than half of us that our brown haired. My hair is naturally brown like yours but I had to dye it because- " he trailed off.
"Yes..?" I coaxed.
"Um, nothing." He put the batter in the pan and started making the pancakes.
"Oh, blueberry fan are we?" I asked looking at the pancakes.
"I hate blueberries. I only eat them in my pancakes or if they are frozen." He stated.
