I bit my bottom lip, staring at my reflection in the mirror. “Do you really think that Matt will think I look good in this dress?” I asked Marisa, my best friend. Marisa Williamson has been my best friend since Kindergarten. Even though our looks are different we are very much alike with our personalities. She has long wavy brown hair, bright blue/green eyes, she’s about 5’5”, she’s very tan, crazy at times, sporty, and very bubbly. I have long straight brown hair, olive green eyes, I’m about 5’7”, I’m tan, I have long eyelashes, long legs, I can be crazy on a sugar rush, I’m a sporty person, I love to read, and I get excited easily. She smiled, showing her perfectly straight teeth and nodded.
“Of course he will love that dress, I promise,” she stuck her pinky out making me chuckle. I gripped her pinky tightly with mine, she lightly shook them, and then I let our pinky’s go. I glanced at the mirror concentrating on the dress. The dress was a purple strapless dress, going to the middle of my thigh, and had a black belt under the bust. I smiled briefly before stripping it off. “So that’s the one you’re going to get?” she asked as I got dressed back in my normal clothes.
“Yeah, thanks for helping me out!” I thanked her. She giggled and looped her arm through mine, opening the door, and then stepping out.
“Well you have to look hot for Matt, he’s your soon to be beau anyway,” she exclaimed, stopping at a register with a cute guy as a clerk.
“Ah a pretty dress for a pretty lady,” he flashed me a smile while taking the dress from me. I forced a smile on my face. Marisa noticed this, turned to him and said, “She’s taken, sorry!” she fake frowned, but turned to me and winked. His smile fell from his face as he passed the dress back lazily.
“That’ll be $84.95,” he opened the cash register, putting the money I gave him inside. I gave him exact change so I didn’t get any change back. Marisa looped her arm back with mine as she led us out.
“Well I don’t know who crapped in his corn flakes this morning, but that boy is one bipolar mother f*cker!” she announced, walking towards where she parked her car. “Well I would ask if you wanted to do anything else, but it’s 9 at night, and my mom wants me home but 9:30 because it’s a school night,” she muttered, hopping in the truck, and I did the same.
“See you tomorrow!” I shouted to Marissa as I slammed her car door, dashing to my front door. I unlocked it, opened it, and called out, “Mom! Dad! I’m home!”
“In here sweetie!” my mom called from the kitchen. “We already had dinner. The leftovers are in the fridge if you’re hungry. I’m going to bed, night! I love you!” my mom cheered as I stepped in the kitchen. She walked up to me, placing a swift kiss to my forehead, before retreating to her bedroom.
“I’m going to bed too, night pumpkin!” my dad kissed my cheek before he headed to bed. I sighed feeling quite lonely. I grabbed a water bottle out of the fridge and started off to my room. I opened my door slowly so it wouldn’t creak and wake my parents. I walked to my dresser, taking off my clothes, and replacing them with long shirts that use to be my ex-boyfriends, but it’s so comfy. I ran my brush through my hair, and slowly crawled under my blankets. I closed my eyes tightly thinking about Matt and what he looks like. He’s about 5’11’’, muscular (as all quarterbacks for the football teams are); he has blonde hair that is spiked like Taylor Lautner’s, bright blue eyes, perfect full lips, and nice abs. With that I fell asleep, excited about what tomorrow will bring.
I woke up with a yawn escaping my lips. I glanced at the clock and groaned, it was 6 in the morning, and that gave me more than enough time to get ready. I slipped out of my warm, cozy, and comfy bed. I trudged over to my bathroom to take a shower. I peeled my clothes off and turned the knobs on. I washed my hair, my body, and shaved my legs in my shower. I turned the knobs to off, jumped out, and wrapped a pink fuzzy towel around my body. I walked quickly to my room, the cold air nipping my moist skin, and freezing it. I shut my door, listening to my parents shut the front door to go to work. I walked to my dresser putting on black lace under garments, and then dragged myself to my closet. I slipped on black skinny jeans, a yellow V-neck t-shirt, and a black leather jacket. I stuck my feet in black flats, added a little makeup, and voila! I am done with my masterpiece. I grabbed my bag, trudged downstairs, and locked the house up before leaving for school.
“Chloe over here,” Marisa yelled, motioning me with her hands to go next to her in our courtyard. “You’re here early!” she announced as I was walking up next to her. I nodded, grinning hugely at her.
“Hell yeah man, so are you guys going to Matt’s party tonight?” I asked, turning to the rest of our friends that we were hanging out with. They all nodded and hooted, or whooped, whatever you want to call it. Marisa looped our arms together as she does every day, leading us to our lockers. We, signing up at the same time, were lucky enough to get lockers next to each other. I put my locker combination in, and grabbed all the books I needed. Marisa closed her locker at the same time I did that got us laughing for a few minutes. When we settled down, it felt like I couldn’t breathe from laughing so hard. The bell ran, making us both jump, and sending us into fits of laughter. We laughed all the way to math which was calculus. We walked in laughing with each other. I looked towards Matt to find him staring at me. I smiled at him which he gratefully returned. He patted the seat next to him. I looked over at Marisa for conformation. She sighed and nodded her head. I smiled at her and skipped over to Matt’s side sliding into the seat next to him. “Hey,” he whispered leaning towards me as the teacher continued his lesson.
“Hey,” I whispered back, a smile etching its way slowly onto my face.
“Are you going to the party tonight?” he asked and I nodded. He grinned and leaned back in his seat, leaving me alone for the rest of class.
